The Stories at CORE Fitness Studio San Jose Will Keep You Hooked on Pilates Reformer
What’s the most important thing about any exercise program? Sticking to it.
Five researchers from the University of Valencia (Spain) set out to learn what keeps people continuing with their Pilates Reformer routine. They studied a group of Pilates Reformer practitioners who had been doing Reformer for 6 or more years. They analyzed the data they collected using using thematic narrative analysis, (focusing on the whats of stories) and holistic narrative analysis (examining how narratives acted on adherence).
The results highlight the social relationships as characters, plots and scenarios of stories enhancing long-term participation in Pilates Reformer. And that — the social relationships — is where the magic happens. As popular as Pilates Reformer is, there’s still some mystique about this exercise discipline that’s more than 100 years old. Pilates is just for women

We Got You Going in Circles — Leg Circles — on the Pilates Reformer at CORE Fitness Studio San Jose
People often tell us their favorite part of our Pilates Reformer classes at CORE Fitness Studio is when they do ‘feet in the straps.’ You’ll do several exercises lying on your back or on your side with your feet in the straps, which are connected to ropes that are attached to the Reformer.
You’ll do lower-and-lift, scissor kicks, soccer kicks, and leg circles where you rotate your feet in one direction and then the other. You’ll do it with parallel feet, your feet turned inward, and your feet turned outward. In the process, you’ll work your thighs, your hamstrings, inner and outer thighs, and your hip flexors. That last one — hip flexors — is the reason why feet in the straps is so popular. It opens up your hips giving you flexibility that not only feels good but helps strengthen your lower body and improves your balance and posture.
