Here is our newest entry to the Players of Dodgeball album, Michael Raquinio!
"I started playing dodgeball in July of 2012. At the time, I would regularly hang out with friends at Little Chef Counter at San Pedro Square Market. One night, I noticed a box of ads for Dynamic Sport & Social Club. I had been looking for something to keep me active. I grabbed the ad and looked at the different sports. I ended up choosing dodgeball because it seemed like it’d have the lowest starting skill to it. A “kid’s game”, right? I asked two of my closest friends, Eman & Rachelle, if they'd join with me. We went to Open Gym to scope out what it was like and instantly fell for the Don’t Care attitude of Ben and the Honey Badgers. It’s amazing how much dodgeball has changed our lives since then. I mean, I keep track of the week by how close it is to Dodgeball Wednesday and have caught myself thinking Dodgeball seasons are years.
There's a saying that "Sports don't build character; they reveal it". I feel like this is especially true for dodgeball. It lets you be anything: hero, villain, joker, or assassin. I myself enjoy the silly and strategy parts of the game. Making throws when and where you least expect it. (No headshots though) In my head, I think it looks awesome, but according to the photos (the tape doesn’t lie) and opponent description of my “flailing around” style of dodging, I must look foolish. You don’t have to be the strongest, fastest, or best to contribute to a team and have fun. And that’s what we’re all there for: have fun.
Dynamic Dodgeball gives you so much opportunity to have fun on and off the court and I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I hadn’t picked up that ad. There’s so many great and different people I’ve met since July of 2012, and expect to meet even more in the years to come, playing the game we all love, Dodgeball."

Hey Hey Hey! Finally adding some new players to Players of Dodgeball album we have here! Next up, Emmanuel aka E-Man!
"Well, it's been about 3 years since I first tried out this great sport of Dodgeball here at Dynamics Sports. And I loved every game, every day that I have played.Starting from an open gym, when soon to be great friends recruited me and my friends to their team here at Honey Badger Don't Care, my life has changed.
Starting with Dodgeball itself. This sport is everything I love about sports. It encompasses the spirit of teamwork and strategy, while giving an individual the chance to shine on the brightest of spotlights (cue ESPN's top plays music). Watch any Dodgeball game, and you will see the competitiveness on the level of any other pro sports. So many types of people play, so you'll see many different types of players. You will see heart pounding close games, blowouts, sudden deaths, amazing throws and game saving saves and catches. So much goes on in any game, and no two games are the same.
The people I've met through this sport is what keeps me going. The social side of the sports throughout the years has me coming back. I've made friends with so many people here it truly is a blessing. Seeing a variety of people from here at Dynamics, to those friends who are pro's who play at National Tournaments, we are all united with at least one thing. Our love for Dodgeball.
There is so much things and tell many stories I can say about the beauty of this sport, but I want to keep this short. So I urge any of you who wants to try, come out and play. Dodge Duck Dive Dip and Dodge with the rest of us! I know ya'll seen the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. And it is every bit of fun as it makes out to be and more.
-Emmanuel

One of the many times the team had to split between into two teams. Many people have come and gone since then, but we still have two teams going strong still playing!
The Dynamic Sport and Social Club team, Honey Badger Don't Care, expanded to two teams this fall season and tonight play each other in a friendly game of dodgeball. Costumes optional.

Here's another featured player. Kenny Cox!
"Where to even start? I think the best thing about dodgeball is the community. We have, by far, the greatest group of people to ever play a sport, and every day I make more friends who are in this for the same reason I am: To have fun.
I began playing almost 12 years ago in an underground parking garage late at night, surrounded by a few people who I had yet to call friends. Looking back on how much dodgeball has changed my life, it's hard to imagine where I would be had I not decided to show up that night so long ago. I've met some of my closest friends and even my fiance through the sport, and some of these friendships are ones that I know will last a lifetime. For several years I ran the largest (and possibly only) underground dodgeball league in the country, averaging 200 people a night. I've played in over 100 tournaments and have well over 4,000 hours of time on the court over the past 12 years, and I've loved every minute of it. In fact, I encourage anybody who wants to rekindle their spirit for fun, or just to meet new people, to give this a shot.
They say you should have three hobbies: one that makes money, one that keeps you healthy, and one that lets you be creative. I feel like dodgeball does all three of those for me."

"I started playing dodgeball in February of 2012. It all started because I needed a change of pace from continuously working on the car I was building in my spare time. Someone I know had been playing and talked me into giving it a shot. I was reluctant because I felt out of touch with social/team s**t like that.
First game, I showed up in jeans and skate shoes. I did some aggressive skateboarding in jeans and skate shoes; why not wear that in Dodgeball? Over time, I learned to wear more appropriate athletic attire and come out of my shell. I mean, Dodgeball is filled with some kickass motherf**kin' people, like the Honey Badgers! And, I came across others who lit the competitive fire inside of me. They took me in, nudged me in the right direction, and that led me to attend a few pro level tournaments in L.A. and Las Vegas. Those tournaments showed me a whole new level of strategy, teamwork, and fitness to aspire to.
I never would have thought that Dodgeball would be such a huge part of my life. It is an outlet, a passion. Everything else goes away when I play. F**k YEAH DODGEBALL!!!"

Hey Guys! Welcome to the first of an album I'll call "Players of Dodgeball" Well. At least for now until I can think of another catchier name. Suggestions welcome. These will be small snippets and stories about players that play Dodgeball, told from their point of views about why they play.
Here is our first Dodgeball Player: Dave Daughtery,

Hello everybody!
So I'm off work for a bit with a bum knee, and was bored. Was thinking of things to do besides errands, and saw on my facebook feeds articles like "Souls of Society" and "Humans of New York (SF, Bay area, wherever you're from). And it kinda got me thinking, what if we did small time articles like those?
For those who do not know what Humans of New York or Souls of Society are, check out their pages on Facebook and books. Lots of interesting stories, some small, some longer, some funny, some heart touching.
I was kind of thinking small things like "Badgers of Dodgeball", or on a bigger scale "Humans of Dodgeball". I could take a few portrait pictures, and have whoever featured say a few things about Dodgeball, social aspects of the sport, leauge, whatever! Some fun tidbits or something? Then post it on this page, to be shared and stuff like that.
Also if there is already something like this, let me know!
Since tomorrow is Dodgeball at Dynamics Sports and Social, was wondering if anyone wanna be a guinea pig and try it out.
This is mostly an effort to get this page going again, and something fun to try out!

BADGER OF THE WEEK: Rob, AKA Hunnie
STRENGTHS:
On Court - Can catch balls for days!! You can always count on him to catch someone back in. He's really good at team work and coordinating throws with other Badgers! Great attitude on and off the court. Super chill dude. Never once have we seen him lose his cool. He, in part, introduced at least one fellow teammate to one of the Honey Badger ways of dodgeball--drinking while playing and "not caring" how well you play. It's all about having fun!
Off Court - Rob! Super sweet! Very welcoming and social, he always invites people to come hang out. According to a fellow teammate, Rob is the reason for the smell in the men's restroom at Twin Creeks. Speaking of said teammate, Rob is always a good sport in taking all the abuse this teammate throws at him. He definitely takes it in stride. Also, this guy has a killer beard.
