Communication is π when it comes to raising kiddos.
Here are three easy ways to communicate how to overcome shyness.
Recognize your feelings: It's okay to feel shy sometimes. Everyone feels shy in new or unfamiliar situations. It's important to recognize and accept your feelings of shyness.
Practice social skills: Social skills are like muscles - the more you use them, the stronger they become. You can practice social skills by talking to family members or close friends. Try to make eye contact, listen actively, and ask questions. You can also join clubs or groups that interest you, or try out activities like drama or public speaking to boost your confidence.
Take small steps: It's important to take small steps when trying to overcome shyness. Start with small gatherings or social events, and gradually work your way up to larger events. Don't push yourself too hard, and take breaks if you need to. Celebrate your progress and keep practicing your social skills. Remember, everyone starts somewhere, and you can overcome your shyness with practice and patience.
Practicing martial arts outside can offer a range of benefits beyond what you might experience in a studio setting. Here are just a few reasons to take your martial arts practice outdoors:
Fresh air and sunlight. Training outside allows you to breathe in fresh air and soak up some natural vitamin D from the sun. This can help boost your mood, energy levels, and overall health.
Improved focus and concentration. Being in nature can help clear your mind and improve your ability to focus on your martial arts practice. This can help you develop better technique and control, and improve your overall performance.
Greater variety and challenge. Practicing martial arts outside can offer a wider range of surfaces, obstacles, and natural elements to work with. This can help you develop greater agility, balance, and coordination as you navigate uneven terrain, rocks, and other outdoor features.
Increased mindfulness and awareness. Being in nature can help you develop a deeper sense of mindfulness and awareness, which can be helpful in martial arts practice. You can learn to focus on your surroundings and be more present in the moment, helping you to be more effective and efficient in your movements.
Connection to nature. Training outside can foster a greater sense of connection to the natural world and a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the environment around us.
Overall, practicing martial arts outside can be a great way to enhance your physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. So why not take your practice outdoors and experience the many benefits for yourself?
Martial arts can be a great way for kids to stay active and learn valuable skills like discipline, respect, and self-defense. But with busy schedules and limited access to studios, it can be tough for parents to get their kids to practice martial arts at home. Here are some tips for making it happen:
1) CREATE A DESIGNATED SPACE ποΈ
Find a clear area in your home, such as a living room or garage, where your child can practice martial arts safely. Make sure the space is free of obstacles and has enough room for movement.
2) ESTABLISH A ROUTINE π
Schedule a regular time for your child to practice martial arts each day or week. This will help them develop a habit and make it easier to stick to a consistent practice schedule.
3) USE ONLINE RESOURCES π»
There are many great martial arts resources available online, including videos and tutorials that can help your child learn new techniques and drills. Encourage them to watch and practice along with these resources.
4) MAKE IT FUN π
Incorporate games and challenges into your child's martial arts practice to make it more engaging and enjoyable. For example, you can set up obstacle courses or timed drills to challenge their speed and agility.
5) BE SUPPORTIVE π«Ά
Encourage your child's progress and offer positive feedback on their technique and effort. Celebrate their accomplishments and milestones along the way to keep them motivated and excited about practicing martial arts at home.
By following these tips, parents can help their kids stay active and engaged in martial arts even when they can't make it to the studio. With consistent practice and dedication, your child can become a skilled martial artist and develop valuable life skills along the way.
There was once a kid named Steven who was a martial arts enthusiast. He started taking classes with us when he was only 11 years old and quickly fell in love with the martial arts. Steven was a natural athlete, and he worked hard to not only develop his skills but also develop a black belt mindset.
As Steven started moving up in level, he began competing in tournaments and quickly became one of the best in his age group. His speed, strength, and technique were in many ways unparalleled, and he quickly gained a reputation as a rising star in the world of martial arts in the bay area for Taekwon-Do.
Despite his success, Steven never forgot the values he had learned through martial arts: respect, discipline, and humility. He continues to train hard, always striving to improve his skills and technique.
As he got older, Steven began to use his martial arts skills to help others. He started teaching classes as an assistant in our school to young children in the community, passing on his knowledge and passion for the martial art as well as the sport.
He also used his platform to advocate for anti-bullying initiatives, using his martial arts training to teach children how to defend themselves and build confidence.
Check out the photo of him and his younger brother training on February 23, 2016 vs who he is today! We are proud of the man Steven has become as well as the person he continually moves to becoming.

Five reasons why it's so important to teach kids about having "Good manners".
Respect for Others: Good manners teach children to show respect and consideration for other people. They learn to say "please" and "thank you," to wait their turn, and to listen attentively when others are speaking. These behaviors help them develop positive relationships with others and avoid conflicts.
Social Skills: Manners help children develop social skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. They learn how to interact with people from different backgrounds and how to navigate social situations with ease.
Self-Discipline: Good manners require self-discipline and self-control. Children who learn to control their impulses and act with consideration for others are more likely to succeed in school and in their future careers.
Positive Reputation: Having good manners helps children build a positive reputation among their peers, teachers, and community. People are more likely to respect and trust someone who demonstrates good manners and behaves politely.
Respect for Themselves: Good manners also teach children to respect themselves. They learn to value their own feelings and needs, as well as those of others.
It's a creative way to teach your kids about money as well as get them to do chores. π€
Create a fake auction where your child can bid on different chores using play money. The higher the bid, the easier the chore will be. This can motivate them to do more challenging chores in order to earn more play money.
Try it out and let us know how it goes.
In children, physical fitness can also help develop a sense of discipline and perseverance.
As children learn to push themselves to reach fitness goals, they may develop a sense of pride and confidence in their abilities, which can carry over into other areas of their lives.

........
Did you know that teaching kids to responsible for their belongings can reinforce great character traits such as:
Responsibility π₯
Independance π₯
Accountibilty π₯
Here's three simple ways to take this lesson home.
Use positive reinforcement: Praise your child when they show responsibility for their belongings, such as putting their toys away or taking care of their backpack. This will help reinforce the behavior and encourage them to continue being responsible.
Involve your child in decision-making: Involve your child in decisions about their belongings, such as what to keep and what to donate or throw away. This will help them develop a sense of ownership and responsibility for their belongings.
Teach organization skills: Teach your child how to organize their belongings so that they can easily find what they need and take care of their things. This will also help them develop a sense of responsibility for their belongings.

One of our favorite things at the academy is teaching strong πͺwork ethic. π
A strong work ethic helps children develop a sense of responsibility and accountability.
By teaching kids to take ownership of their actions and the consequences that come with them, they learn to be responsible and accountable for their decisions.
In the photo you see Mr. Edwin. He is an excellent example of strong work habits. The first photo was taken in the winter of 2019 and the second photo is the spring of 2023 where he achieved his Black Belt.
Mr. Edwin is a role model student who shows up, works hard, listens... and helps others!

Part two of crushing procratination for moms.πͺ
Set Realistic Goals:
Setting realistic goals is key for avoiding procrastination. As a mom with kids, your time is limited, so it's important to be realistic about what you can accomplish. Break larger goals into smaller, more achievable ones, and prioritize the most important tasks.
Create a Schedule:
As a mom, it's important to have a schedule that works for you and your family. Set aside time each day or week to work on your tasks, and be flexible when unexpected things come up. You may need to work early in the morning, during nap time, or after your kids go to bed.
Eliminate Distractions:
Distractions can be a major obstacle to productivity. Identify the things that distract you the most and take steps to eliminate them. This might involve turning off your phone, closing your email, or finding a quiet space to work.
Find an Accountability Partner:
As a mom, it can be helpful to have someone to hold you accountable. Find a friend or family member who can check in with you regularly to see how you're progressing. This can help you stay focused and motivated.
Celebrate Small Wins:
Finally, as a mom with kids, it's important to celebrate your small wins. When you complete a task or reach a goal, take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishment. This can help you stay motivated and build momentum towards your larger goals.
...... Don't worry..... if you decide to celebrate in your own way....πΈ

Helping moms crush procrastination for good!
Part one....π
As a mom with two kids, procrastination can be a real challenge. Between caring for your children, managing your household, and possibly working outside the home, it's easy to put off tasks until later.
However, overcoming procrastination is essential for staying on top of your responsibilities and feeling less stressed. Here are some tips that can help:
Understand the Root of Your Procrastination:
As a mom, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the number of tasks on your to-do list.
Take some time to reflect on why you're procrastinating. Are you feeling anxious about a particular task? Are you exhausted and lacking motivation? Understanding the root of your procrastination can help you take steps to address it.
Break Tasks into Smaller Pieces:
As a mom, it's likely that you have many responsibilities competing for your time. Breaking larger tasks into smaller pieces can make them feel more manageable.
For example, instead of trying to clean the entire house in one day, focus on one room at a time. This can help you make progress without feeling overwhelmed.
To all the parents out there: You are doing an amazing job! Parenting is a challenging and rewarding journey, and your dedication and hard work are making a real difference in your child's life.
Every day, you are teaching your child important life skills, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment, and showing them love and support in countless ways. Your efforts are helping your child grow into a confident, caring, and capable individual, and that is something to be truly proud of.
It's normal to feel overwhelmed or unsure at times, but please remember that you are not alone. There is no one "right" way to parent, and every family is unique. Trust your instincts, be kind to yourself, and know that you are doing the best you can with the resources and information you have.
So keep up the great work, and know that your efforts are truly appreciated. Your child is lucky to have you as their parent, and you are making a positive impact that will last a lifetime.
Parents, we see you.π
