I’m 44 years old and in the absolute BEST shape of my life. I owe it all to Neal Maddox and the the team at The Maddox Method.
Since starting the program in October of 2016, I’ve shed 70+ pounds. When I first walked through the doors I was just 2 years past having a heart attack, grossly overweight, and desperate for a transformation.

Did you know that rest days are important?
Taking time off so that your muscles can actually repair and recover will actually help you reach your goals faster than overtraining.
Your muscles need a break every so often so that they can actually grow and recover so you can continue to workout without getting injured.
I take Thursdays and Sundays off specifically for this reason.
Even as a competitive athlete, recovery days were imperative to my training. They helped my body stay healthy and allowed me to continue to get stronger. When timed properly, recovery days help performance.
A big mistake I see a lot is the mindset that more is better, and that taking a day off will diminish any gains. And it’s literally the opposite! Recovery days help those gains come faster!!

Fitness is 💯 mental. Your body won’t go where your mind doesn’t push.
We’ve all been there - at that do or die moment of mentally deciding how hard we want to push on a workout. 🤨
The question is… do you push harder knowing that it’s going to hurt (even if just for that moment), or do you take it easy and stay comfortable?
🔥🔥The answer to that question is what determines if you’re getting the most out of your workout.
Stay comfortable, stay the same.🙂

The key to success is consistency. Be patient. As long as you’re consistently doing the work and eating in a way to support that, you’ll reach those goals.
I’ve trained for hours and hours a day while competing, and I’ve trained for one hour a day when I’m not. The biggest thing is I keep my diet consistent and I keep moving.
You don’t have to go crazy with your training, just stay consistent. Don’t ramp up the intensity for one week only to be sidelined for two. Show up, do the work, stay in your abilities and the results will happen.

Did you know that 75% of muscle tissue is water?
Proper hydration is critical to muscle growth. A small amount of dehydration affects performance; so if you’re not performing to your max potential, you certainly aren’t growing to your max potential.
Your greatest natural detection system for dehydration is thirst - but, unfortunately, by the time this warning sign kicks in you’re likely already dehydrated. As little as a two percent loss of hydration will effect performance in a workout.
Water is used for countless metabolic processes - many of which effect recovery. Hydration plays a huge role in muscle repair, protein synthesis, and nutrient absorption (digestion).
You can’t recovery properly without adequate hydration.
AND!! Staying hydrated is a key component to weight loss as it flushes toxins out of your system, keeps your digestive tract healthy and even helping in keeping you feel more full.
I have water with me 24/7. Just try to drink the majority of it earlier in the day... I’ve made the mistake of drinking too much close to bedtime and have been up all night having to use the bathroom.
