All the hard work has finally paid off! After years of fighting for this, SJC broke ground on the park on Tuesday, September 3rd, with a target completion date of Spring 2025. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the immense help and support from so many, and while some may not have been formally recognized, the SJC Skatepark Coalition would like to extend a special thank you to the following individuals. We believe YOUR efforts were instrumental in keeping this fight alive and bringing the project to fruition!

Message from San Juan Capistrano: Join the San Juan Capistrano City Council for a brief Groundbreaking Celebration to memorialize the start of construction of the long-awaited City Skatepark and Trail Project. The gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd from 2:30pm to 3:00pm at the southwest corner of the Kinosh*ta Farm Property, adjacent to Camino Del Avion. Street parking is available along Camino Del Avion, and within the Community Center parking lot located at 25925 Camino Del Avion. Remarks will be delivered by Mayor Farias as well as opportunities for photos!!!

The long-awaited skate park project in San Juan Capistrano is, once again, anticipated to move forward, as an environmental impact report for the approximately 1-acre skate park is anticipated to be released this month for the public to review.

Hello SJC Skate Park Coalition and Supporters!

It’s been a long journey and a lot of work that has gone on behind the scenes! I truly believe the Skate Jams that you guys all helped put together were the tipping point for the city to finally recognize the need for our own park! I would like to send a big thank you to all the supporters and all of the community members that came together to make those happen. Thank you for all the vendors and sponsors that came out and supported us. A big thank you to the city of SJC, community center, boys and girls club, and the SJC City Counsel.

Thank you to all the people that continually made the board meetings put in the extra effort to support our mission. Eric Gross (Great Ops), Travis Perrin (Millennium), Mo Henderson, Jenna Green, China Florentino, Matt Sheridan (Basic of Skate boarding), Cody Martin, Todd Rodarmel (Mountain View Church), and of course the SJCSPC Board!

I would like to send an extra thank you to Jerry Muir and Tina Auclair for putting in a lot of unseen and unrecognized work to keep us compliant and manage all the back end administrative duties. A Big shout-out to Jim Gilbert for single handedly making sure everyone in the city of SJC, every skate park in southern California, and so many more knew about our mission!
Thank you to Kerry Ferguson for the many hours she devoted to review the support petitions and summarize the contact email addresses. Mrs. Ferguson was a great supporter on and off the city council. I would also like to recognize Tom Perrin for his early work as a founding member of the Coalition.

We will keep everyone posted on any news we hear and hope to see you all at the opening day!!! Team work makes the dream work!!!
