It was the year of the Mustang! 🐎

The Mustangs once again dominated the Big West this season, winning 11 overall championships! Men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, beach volleyball, women’s golf, men’s tennis, men’s track and field, and baseball (Regular season and Postseason) all won Big West titles.

The most by a single school in an academic year in Big West history!

Congrats to Ryan Tayman from Baseball on being named Cal Poly’s Male Athlete of the Year!
 
An All-Big West First Team selection and the Co-Big West Field Player of the Year, Ryan led the conference in home runs and RBIs, and has tied Division I program records for home runs and grand slams, guiding the Mustangs to the Los Angeles Regional title and a spot in the Super Regionals this weekend!
 

Congrats to Izzy Martinez from Beach Volleyball on being named Cal Poly’s Female Athlete of the Year!
 
An AVCA Second Team All-American, a First Team All-Big West selection and a AVCA Top Flight Winner, Izzy and her partner, Logan Walter, led the nation in wins this year while setting the program’s single-season and career pair wins records!
 

Congrats to Anthony Berg from Wrestling on being named Cal Poly’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year!
 
A civil engineering major boasting a 3.95 GPA, Anthony placed second at 165 pounds at this year’s Pac-12 Championships, and earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors!
 

Congrats to Lexi Evans from Women’s Track & Field on being named Cal Poly’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year!
 
A senior pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering while maintaining a 3.925 GPA, Lexi earned Second Team All-American honors in the pole vault indoors and will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships next week in Eugene!

Congrats to Trevor Tinker from Wrestling on receiving the Mustang Way Award during the Night of the Mustang!
