Hi there 👋 It’s us! Lauren and Michael (and Graysen and Riley). We’re the McAlisters.
We opened our studio in 2017 with no clue what we were doing and just enough confidence (or maybe delusion) to think we could pull it off. We wanted to create a space where people in SLO could feel stronger, more athletic, and more confident in what their amazing bodies can do. Almost 10 years later, we’d like to think we’ve done just that.
We’re really proud of how we approach training. Our workouts are uniquely designed to challenge you, make you stronger, and help you move better in every part of your one beautiful life.
What we’re most proud of, though, is our crew. Somehow we’ve gathered the most amazing people and convinced them to work for and work out with us. When we get caught up in the day-to-day of running a business—the schedules, emails, staffing, and never-ending to-do lists—it’s all of you who remind us why we opened our doors in the first place.
Our family has grown a bit since the beginning, but this studio will always be our first baby. We’ve poured our hearts into it from day one, and, man, are we thankful for everyone who has shaped it into what it is today.
There are a lot of great places to work out, so we’re genuinely honored every time someone chooses to spend an hour of their day with us. We’re so grateful to be able to do what we do, for this space, and honestly, that you’re reading this right now. Thanks for being here 🫶

We’ve gotten a few questions about our Summer Youth Training Program, which kicks off next week, so we wanted to answer them here in case you’ve been wondering the same thing☀️
Our 4-week program runs Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:00–5:00 PM and is designed to help athletes ages 11-13 build strength, improve movement mechanics, increase speed and power, and gain confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

This might surprise you, but a lot of our nutrition clients (like this one!) are actually under-fueling for their activity level. It’s usually not intentional, by the way. Life gets busy, workouts pick up, and “healthier” choices can sometimes leave you under-fueled without even realizing it.
Signs it might be happening 👀
• Low energy in workouts or throughout the day
• Not getting stronger despite consistency
• Lingering soreness
• Feeling lightheaded or hitting a wall mid-workout
• Constantly thinking about food
• Poor sleep or waking up at night
• Irritability (hello, hangry)
• For women, changes in your cycle
This doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. It might just mean your body is asking for more fuel! If you’re reading this thinking, “wait… that might be me,” this is exactly what a nutrition consult is for 🤝

I’ve been thinking a lot this morning about the woman who walks through the doors at McAlister.
She’s just as strong as she is warm. She works hard and motivates the person next to her. She shows up for herself, and because of that, shows up better for her people.
She’s the one welcoming the new person, cheering someone through their last reps, and pushing herself while still dancing a little during a rest.
She’s the definition of hustle + heart.
When I take a moment to reflect, I’m so grateful to be surrounded by women like that and honestly, really proud to be one of them.
Damn, it feels good to be a woman. Happy International Women’s Day 💪

It’s Delanie’s McAlister trainiversary✨
We seriously hit the jackpot when she joined our crew. D brings amazing energy to classes and leads with so much care. And when she’s not on the class schedule, she’s working 1:1 with clients of all ages and goals, showing up in a way that makes them feel supported, capable, and strong. We ❤️ you, ! Here’s to you!

Today isn’t just Super Bowl Sunday, it’s also Corey’s trainiversary!
Corey joined the schedule in 2022, and we’re so grateful to have him as part of the training team today! He’s equal parts calm, cool, and collected, and definitely one of the most likable humans around. He’s the coach you trust to lead you, and definitely the one you want spotting you on anything heavy 💪
