If I could bottle a feeling, it would be this place.

The soft grass under my toes.

The sunset casting a warm hue with a new show to share every evening.

The cool breeze blowing on my warm dewy skin,
rustling the oak and palm trees overhead to a tune similar to ocean waves.

The love palatably thick in the air,
Mingling with the smell of my grandfathers BBQ.

The birds sing sweet songs of belonging.

When I die, I hope heaven looks and feels something like this, something like my grandmothers home.

This week of April is full of things to celebrate in the Hughes household. Cody and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary today, my birthday is Saturday, Earth Day is in the coming Wednesday... & this is always when I just choose to celebrate the birth of Buzz In The Hills!

Buzz has been going for 8 years now! Im not exactly sure what day it all began, because it happened so organically with making and sharing goods out of a passion project. But, my first market was sometime around my birthday, so I just go ahead and round them up together in one big week of celebration!

2025 was the first full calendar year that I worked truly full time with Buzz In The Hills. I started this lil business in 2018, but really mostly as a hobby back then.

I worked jobs like eco studies teacher, plant nursery manager, yoga teacher, nanny, postpartum dula. During all of which I poured my money into Buzz like one might do with a savings account, or stocks. It has been my investment into myself and the life I want to live.

Each year alongside many a jobs, the brand and vision of Buzz as a business developed and refined further. Over those 8 years I was able to transition to more part time work, and then only part time seasonal work. This little hobby has turned into a real business that truly provides for me, & for the first time now putting food on the table and paying the bills full time!

My past self would be so thrill with where I have landed, and I truly feel so blessed and proud to have been able to work towards a place where I can work my craft from home as my full time work.

This self employed creative life definitely has its many challenges, but I am so glad to be here. Thank you for being a part of it. I couldn’t do it without you and your support, big and small! 💛
