4 days until the final stretch never gets easier, no matter how many times you do it

Only 5 days to go now! We hope that everyone is finalizing their last minute to do lists? Boat prep, cleaning, sealing up spray skirts, checking the gauges, watching videos, checking the weather, locating ice socks....checking the gauges. The excitement is definitely mounting!

Today, many in the Safari community gathered to bid a fond farewell to Joe Mynar. He would have been pleased with all the memories shared and the discussion of this year's race. He was all about the race and we will miss him so much. An incredible racer and one heck of a Team Captain!

And in that vein--Please remember to make sure Your Team Captain is ready! That they have what they need to to make their Safari a good one too! Your race plan, the checkpoint locations, water, shoes, food, towels, and the TWS Driving Guide!

Thank you once again to Kate Tart- if you haven't looked at this gem of a driving guide--you will get mileage, cutoff times, alternate viewing locations, pictures and so much more! A wonderful addition is the places all along the course to eat, get ice, gas etc. This is important for your TC's because they need to care for themselves as they support you to Seadrift! So print a copy! And the wonderful folks at Bubba's in Seadrift has let us know that they will be OPEN on Sunday night--just for Safari! So get yourself to the finish and have some of the best seafood ever!

Clean Boat Protocol for Spring Lake Access:

Be advised that no one is allowed onto Spring Lake at any time except race day. This is a protected and revered ecosystem and we are only graciously allowed access beginning at 7:30am on Race day morning, Friday June 12th.

**All competitors should have received their email with race day map and explanation! Everyone needs to read that!**

Please review the Clean Boat Protocol and Prepare your boat before bringing it to Check In on Thursday June 11th! It must be cleaned as described and allowed to dry for 24 hours beforehand.

Be rigorous in this! You do not want to bring contamination into Spring Lake!

The John Dupont Scholarship/Grant Committee is happy to announce that they will be selling Raffle Tickets at TWS Check-In on Thursday June 11th! The Prize is:

𝟏 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐖𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲

The drawing for the winning ticket will be held at the TWS Award Banquet on Monday, June 15th, 2026. You will not need to be present to win!

Tickets will be $10 for 1 ticket or $25 for 3 tickets. Cash only!
Look for Jim Weber at the Come and Take It Flag or Libby Geisinger at Check-in to buy tickets.

All proceeds will benefit the John DuPont Scholarship/Grant. So please support and honor the memory of John Dupont and let's build up the Scholarship fund! This prize is transferrable! Recipients of the 2026 John Dupont Scholarship/Grant will be announced at the TWS Pre-Race Safety meeting at 4pm on Thursday, June 11th.
