Our very first Boardriders event was a huge success!
The Hurricane Gulch Foiling Chaos Race began with a light-wind, long course from the Pt. Fermin buoy to Green 3 off Angel’s Gate, finishing at the original line. The next two races followed the same format but used a shorter course, as the wind was too light to support the longer version.
Three classes competed: wing foil, windfoil, and windsurf (fin). It was an exciting day for all involved, kicking off the season and showcasing foiling at its core.
Thank you to our event sponsors: Always Kiting Always Boarding (Long Beach) and Tonge Investments (Maine).
Everyone had a great time and learned a lot—the season ahead should bring great breeze for our upcoming events!

We are deeply saddened to share the unexpected passing of our fellow member, Ron Costabile.
Ron’s loss comes as a shock to all of us. He was a valued member of our Race Committee, and his presence on the docks and among friends will be greatly missed. Ron always had a genuine and calming smile, and his absence will be felt by our LAYC family.
We invite members to gather at the Los Angeles Yacht Club this Friday, April 24th, at 6:00 pm to come together, share stories, and raise a glass in honor of Ron and a life well lived. This will be an opportunity for our yacht club family and friends to support one another and reflect on the many memories we shared with him.
