🩷 Please say a little prayer for Laura 🩷

Dear Friends,

Last month, our dear Laura Briggs was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. With Laura’s permission, we led a very special “Pink-themed” class to give all of our love and support to Laura as she navigates the next steps of treating her cancer.

Today, June 19th, Laura is getting her “marker” placed for her surgery site (with a big needle!), and on Monday, June 22nd, she will have her lumpectomy surgery, followed by radiation.

As you can imagine, Laura is dealing with all sorts of emotions and Laura needs all of our healing prayers and positive thoughts. Specifically, let’s pray that all the cancer will be removed from her body permanently and that she will have a quick and smooth recovery! After all, we need to have Laura back dancing in our classes as soon as possible!

🪩 Viva Las Vegas Karin Conn! 🪩

Thank you for helping to raise $966 towards Karin Conn’s Birthday Benefit for Believe Music Heals , a not-for-profit organization founded by whose mission is “dedicated to bringing healing and hope through music to those who need it most.”

On Saturday morning, all the dancers came in Vegas inspired outfits to celebrate Karin’s birthday with a 60 minute class! Thank you to everyone who was able to join in-person or on Zoom!

We had the pleasure of hearing Karin speak about the Believe Music Heals organization and the impact it has made so far. Karin also shared about the personalized swag she made for her birthday class: casino poker chips personalized with “Stop Drop and Dance” on one side and “Prayer… This S**t Works” on the other side (because Karin has been attending our every other Tuesday prayer group after class!).

And in true Vegas style, we had not one, not two, but three different people unexpectedly serenade Karin! First was Momo, a woman who doesn’t even dance with us but leads another organization in the same building every Saturday morning, then Zoe, who is Karin’s best friend and flew all the way from Vancouver to visit Karin, and finally our very own sang “You Are My Sunshine” on the microphone to Karin!

Karin is fun, kindness, truth, honesty, and love wrapped up all together. She turns 65 this year but she has the energy and spirit of a 25 year old! Viva Las Vegas Karin!

🪩Karin’s Birthday Benefit for Believe Music Heals🪩

We hope to see you TOMORROW, Saturday, June 13th, from 9:30am-10:30am for a special birthday fundraiser hosted by Karin Conn , benefitting the not-for-profit organization, Believe Music Heals 🎶

A note from our birthday girl, Karin:

“For my birthday this year, I wanted to support an organization that truly moved me, so I chose Believe Music Heals as the beneficiary of this dance class fundraiser. I’m on the board and recently attended a graduation for their Finding Your Voice program at San Quentin, and the experience profoundly changed me. The quality of the music, the honesty, vulnerability, and humanity shared through the original songs and stories were incredibly powerful. Some sang about serving time for crimes they say they did not commit. It was raw, emotional, inspiring, and deeply human.

BMH also works with hospice patients and adults with developmental and psychological disabilities, using music, songwriting, and creative expression to bring comfort, connection, healing, and joy to people facing enormous life challenges. I left the San Quentin experience forever changed and with an even deeper belief in the power of music to transform lives.”

Last Tuesday, we celebrated Kristen Sperling’s birthday with a 65 minute class, and her theme was for dancers to wear a shirt with an inspirational statement on it! The list above shows what some of our dancers’ shirts said!

Kristen shared at the beginning of class that she was nervous about dancing up in front of everyone, but look at her go in our video highlight reel!

Sometimes we have to get past what challenges us and makes us uncomfortable… and when the environment is safe and loving, we just need to jump in and embrace the beauty and intention of the moment.

Kristen, thank you for being BRAVE and letting us dance with you, and thank you also to Megan Mariani for joining Kristen for the first time up front for “Better When I’m Dancing,” to Erin Meyers for once again setting up a birthday sign in the background, and to all the dancers who showed up for Kristen’s birthday! Cheers to another wonderful year!

✨Wear Something Inspirational for Kristen Sperling’s Birthday Tuesday!✨

Please join us this week for TWO final classes before our two-week summer break. We will be celebrating birthdays for two of our regular members, Kristen Sperling on Tuesday, June 9th, and Karin Conn on Saturday, June 13th!

Kristen has been dancing with us since before the pandemic and even her two sons used to dance with us! She is an integral part of our community and has attended all three of our international retreats to Tulum, Belize, and Bali! This is the third time Kristen has chosen this inspirational shirt theme and we love it!

Happy Birthday also to Michelle Squire , who is usually a Saturday dancer, but came to class last Thursday because it was her actual birthday! It was the first time she came up on camera to the front of the room, so the photo above turned out amazing! We should all follow her example to take off work and DANCE on your birthday!

🪩This is what 5️⃣0️⃣ looks like!🪩

Happiest birthday to our rockstar dancer, Sara Rainbolt whom we celebrated this past Tuesday for a full 75 minute dance party!

Sara chose the fitting outfit theme of MADONNA and everyone really showed up in character!!! Dancers came in tutus, corsets, miniskirts, side ponytails, headbands, jewelry, and Sara also brought jelly bracelets and fishnet hand gloves for everyone! Thank you to Lisa Butcher who went all out on a Madonna backdrop including printing out photos of all of Madonna’s album covers for the decoration! What a fun theme!

Sara is our queen of not only dancing, but also baking the most delicious cookies. She also has the biggest heart and we love making her cry in the best way (it’s her 8th grade son’s graduation week too… so lots of big emotions at once!).

We are honored to celebrate Sara’s milestone 50th birthday! We love you Sara! You make turning 50 look like you’re turning 30!!!

💎 Happy Birthday Elizabeth Valosek! 💎

Last Thursday, we put the GEM in Gemini and celebrated Elizabeth Valosek’s birthday for the first time with a 60 minute class!

This was Elizabeth’s first birthday class with us since she only discovered our classes 15 months ago. Even though she was brand new back then, within a month, she integrated into our community quickly and easily because of her own effort to chat with dancers standing around her in class, and by showing up to community events such as our March Karaoke night!

Elizabeth brings brightness to our class, both with her bubbly personality and joyful screams, and literally with her love of brightly colored clothing! For her birthday class, she brought ring pops for everyone to wear on their fingers, and body glitter and face gems! Thank you as always to Erin Meyers for the birthday decorations in the backdrop, and to all of you who were able to join in-person or on Zoom.

At the end of class, Elizabeth even spoke on the mic to thank everyone for dancing with her and she shared some beautiful words about our community:

“We all know it’s more than a class. This is a higher love, that’s how I see it…. I feel the sea of love that is created here - in my life. It is always there and I feel like I can do anything… That’s because of the open hearts of all of you, so thank you.”

🩷💛 Happy Birthday Sharon Mor! 💛🩷

We loved celebrating this morning for her birthday class!

Sharon just wrapped up a very busy weekend performing for hours at the Carnaval San Francisco Grand Parade, but she still showed up today with a huge smile and a huge heart! Her team costume this year was fluorescent pink and yellow, so she and fellow dancer, Marnina Young, had accents of Carnaval in their earrings and shoelaces!

Thank you to everyone who joined in-person or on Zoom to shower Sharon with love and thank you to Erin Meyers who came early to decorate a birthday banner for our backdrop.

Grateful for you Sharon!
