A moment of reflection on 9/11 includes remembering tragedy and loss but also the heroism and bravery of firefighters, police officers, and ordinary citizens - both on the ground and in the air - and the love and unity and support that followed in the days, weeks, and months after the events of 9/11.
San Ramon resident Thomas Burnett lost his life at age 38 on United Airlines Flight 93 when it crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. He was one of several passengers credited with leading the effort to take back control of the plane and prevented it from reaching its intended target in Washington, DC.
Remember too the selfless acts, the helpers who got involved, both during and after, and the communities that came together and provided support. All of them remind us of the good that exists in our country and in the world.
