Archer is a 2-year-old Holsteiner/Clydesdale cross who has been working hard on his training, building confidence, and learning to understand rider cues.

Normally, we wait until around 4 years old before introducing actual riding, but this beautiful boy is already HUGE! And let’s just say, coming off him would be a long way down! 😂

Archer has come such a long way since we started working with him in April, and we’re so proud of his progress!

In this video, you’ll see a VERY RARE occurrence for Archer — he kicks out! This happens as Cheryl asks him to work “uphill” through his canter, while also varying the timing of transitions between canter and halt. These exercises help assess his response time, attention, balance, and understanding of the aids.

Even the best horses have moments when they express their opinions! The important part is how they recover, refocus, and continue learning. Archer recovered well from his little tantrum and got right back to work.

This big, beautiful boy truly tries hard to understand what is being asked of him, and he continues to show us just how willing he is to learn and build a partnership with his handler.

Slow, consistent training builds confident horses — and Archer is proof that progress is worth celebrating! 🐎✨
We love you Archer!

8 years ago we built these stocks! Today we had to rebuild them because some bossy horse were picking on the Clydes. Literally looked like pick up stix crossed with dominoes! Narrowing them and changing feed order should help! Thanks Abby ( one of 3 from our team in the organization pic) and Khloe for the help!

🚨 **PIT CREW, ASSEMBLE** 🚨

Beau the drum horse stallion is BACK at the ranch, and honestly? He handles his mane appointment better than most humans handle theirs. 😌

Shampoo. Detangle. Braid. He stands there patient as a saint while we work through it all — and he never once complains about how long he's there for.

The braids protect that flowing hair, sure — but the real genius? They lift it off his neck so he can actually cool down. Functional fashion. Stallion approved. ✅

Truly the most well-behaved boy. We love him!
