My favorite run

Have you ever tried running without expectations? Most runners train with a watch, a target pace, a route, a goal. But sometimes, this constant tracking becomes a source of stress.

That’s where detachment runs come in. Once a week, do a run where you leave the watch at home. No Strava. No heart rate monitor.

No goals. The idea is to detach your identity from your performance. This builds mental resilience and reconnects you with the joy of pure movement.

On a detachment run, allow yourself to go by feel. If you’re tired, slow down. If your body wants to fly, let it. Don’t label the run as good or bad. Just observe.

This practice helps you build mindfulness, and it teaches you to listen to your body instead of external metrics. Over time, you’ll learn to better pace yourself during races and hard sessions because you’ll develop an internal clock.

Plus, you'll reduce burnout. Try one detachment run each week for a month.

Notice how you feel. You may find you fall in love with running all over again.
