Most bogey golfers think a wide takeaway is a good takeaway. It isn’t.
The scratch golfer moves the club back, up, and in all at once. The bogey golfer lets it drift outside straight away, and the rest of the swing is damage control from there.
The difference comes down to three things at the halfway point:
✅ Club moves back, up, and in simultaneously - this keeps the face controlled and sets the correct swing plane early
✅ Club stays in line with the hands at parallel - this prevents the face from fanning open before you’ve even reached the top
✅ No independent arm swing - the body and club move as one unit, which removes the need to reroute on the way down
📩 Send this to your playing partner who always starts the club outside and wonders why they can’t stop coming over the top.
