MOST of our patients are grateful for us not rushing them into surgery but you’d be surprised at how many get annoyed!
Some people see tongue ties an internet trend or a magic pill fix! I promise you it’s not. It takes therapy and motor muscle re-education, most important considering the DYAD of mom and baby when it comes to lactation! Doing a tongue tie or lip tie surgery frenectomy without therapy or lactation consultant is a complete shot in the dark coin toss.
True results and changes come from incoporating a multidisciplinary approach. Furthermore, not all of these professionals are created equally. Just because they wear the credentials does not mean they are skilled. It’s so critical to find those skilled professionals that understand the whole picture.
So when our scheduling team tries to talk to you guys about not going straight to surgery, they’re actually looking out for your best interest!

“Will my baby grow out of it?”
The question I hear in almost every consult — and the one most parents wish they’d asked sooner.
The short answer: they grow with it, not out of it. The tongue restriction doesn’t disappear. It just shows up differently as they get older — in sleep, in feeding, in speech, in jaw development.
If you’ve been told to wait and see and your gut says something’s off, listen to your gut.
