Sleep routine is very important. Here are some great tips!
They don’t use the term “sleep like a baby” for no reason! Yes, babies can wail and cry when they are learning how to sleep, but as many parents can attest, once they have been sleep trained and learn how to self soothe, they actually can sleep quite well.
So, let’s use that information for our own good night’s sleep! Create your own version of sleep training — regular bedtimes, setting a wind down routine, not falling asleep in front of the TV. Additionally, if you wake up in the middle of the night, like a baby, find ways to get back to sleep that won’t be disruptive to you (avoid the phone and Netflix). Find a meditation or a breathing practice that can help soothe you back into a slumber, or place a book on your nightstand. In no time, we bet you’ll be sleeping like, well, a baby! 👶

Good habits every single day.
Having a snack before bed isn’t a bad thing... if you’re eating the right foods! What can really start to interrupt sleep are bad food choices before bed, such as chocolate, spicy foods, sugary foods, junk foods... the list of bad choices can go on!
So what are the good choices? Stick to high fiber carbs and proteins. That’s why peanut butter on a slice of whole grain bread is great, or a handful of almonds, or even some cheese and fruit. These are slower digesting foods, which won’t disturb sleep, and almonds and dairy even contain melatonin, which aids in sleep. So, think twice before you open the junk cabinet tonight! 😴

Are you worried about sitting down all day and working? Not getting your steps in as much because there is no break room to head to? Well, you’re (kinda) in luck!
According to a study in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, the brain’s Cortex is thicker in adults who regularly exercise, even if they are otherwise sedentary. With age the cortex thins, but according to this research, one way to prevent this thinning is through exercise! Even though sitting less is important for your health, it’s not something to beat yourself up about right now — as long as you are still making time for exercise and activity.
