This October, we welcome back acclaimed Colorado fly-fishing guide, author, and fly tyer Landon Mayer for a fast-paced and highly practical presentation on a deceptively simple idea: you donāt need a crowded fly box to catch moreāand biggerātrout.
Mayer has spent more than two decades guiding anglers in pursuit of trophy trout, and during that time he has developed a collection of simple, highly effective āguide fliesā designed to get the job done day after day. His approach takes much of the guessworkāand frustrationāout of choosing the right fly. By the end of the evening, he may even convince you that a few variations of his remarkably effective leech patterns are all you need for a great day on the water.
Better yet, these are not complicated patterns requiring expert tying skills or hours at the vise. Many are quick and straightforward to tie, putting them well within reach of beginning fly tyers while remaining deadly effective in the hands of experienced anglers.
Using excellent on-the-water video throughout the presentation, Mayer will share some of his favorite patterns for targeting trophy trout on rivers and still waters throughout the Rockies and around the world. ABOUT LANDON MAYER
Landon Mayer is one of the fly-fishing communityās most respected guides, authors, fly tyers, and instructors. Raised in Colorado Springs, Mayer was mentored by legendary fly tyer John Barr, an experience that helped fuel his lifelong fascination with sight-fishing for large, selective trout.
For more than 22 years, Mayer has guided professionally on Coloradoās renowned South Platte River, including its famous Dream Stream, developing and refining the techniques and fly patterns that have made him a widely recognized authority on targeting trophy trout with light tackle.
Mayer has shared that experience through an extensive collection of books and instructional material. His books include Sight Fishing for Trout, Coloradoās Best Fly Fishing, 101 Trout Tips: A Guideās Secrets, Tactics and Techniques, How to Catch the Biggest Trout of Your Life, The Hunt for Giant Trout, and Landon Mayerās Guide Flies.
