So your legs are sore today and you're wondering if that's normal. it is. Paddling works stuff you forgot you had. Your core, your shoulders, your legs trying to balance-all of it. Which is great, actually, it means you're building strength without feeling like you're at a gym.

But then you get the paddle hangover. Legs that feel like jello. Shoulders that remind you they exist. Core that's like "remember me?". Here's the thing though: that's just your body saying it worked. And it did.

Stretch after. Drink water. Don't ignore the soreness-that's information. And do it again in a couple days when you feel better. Strongest people I know aren't the ones who go hard once. They're the ones who show up consistently, even when they're sore.

How do you usually recover after a solid paddle?

We started going out with this guy who brings rods and a Big EZ Angler because we thought it'd be funny.Turned out fishing crews are just paddling crews with snacks, beers and patience. There's something about waiting for fish that makes you actually talk to each other. not the "paddle and chat" vibe-the real conversations. the kind where you learn stuff.

The guy who didn't catch anything last week caught something this week. Someone's daughter wants to come next time. Someone else figured out the wind patterns by watching where fish break.

What's your crew's thing? What brought you all together?

There's a group of people who meet on the water at 6am whether it's clear or foggy or weirdly cold for summer. You're not friends because you planned it that way, you're friends because you kept showing up. Same spot. Same time. Different people some days, some regulars most days. Someone brings coffee. Someone knows if the wind's coming. Someone always checks the weather the night before and texts the group. It's not organized. It's just... what happens when you show up consistently.

We've got a couple Moon Mist yogis who started coming just to float. Guy with the Endurance who's training for something we don't ask about. Someone's dog now shows up more than the person sometimes. Best crew isn't the one with the fanciest boards, it's the one that shows up for each other.

you got a regular crew? or are you still hunting for one? 👇

the best session you'll have this summer probably isn't on your calendar yet. It's the one where you're driving past the lake and the light is ridiculous, so you just pull over. Don't think about it. It's the one where something sucked that day and you needed to float for an hour and suddenly it doesn't suck anymore. It's the one where someone texts "go paddle?" and instead of talking about it for twenty minutes you just... go.

The unplanned ones hit different.

I kept the same fin on my board for like two years because i didn't think it mattered. It mattered.

Single fin = you go straight, you track, you feel stable. great if you just want to cruise or you're learning.

Quad fins = the board comes alive. you can turn tighter, play more, actually surf. feels like a completely different board.

Your board probably has a fin box. that's not just a port- it's an invitation to try something different. Grab a different fin next time, it might change how you feel about your whole session, maybe not, but it's worth five minutes of experimenting to find out.

what's your go-to setup and why? genuinely curious.

Someone asked me why we put bamboo inside our boards instead of just... more foam. good question. Bamboo is stupidly strong for how light it is. like, naturally. doesn't need a bunch of chemistry to work, it just does. we layer it in the spots where your board is actually getting stressed- where your feet are, around the fin box, where the rails take hits.

it grows fast so we can source it without feeling like we're trashing something. and it costs less to do responsibly than a lot of the synthetic stuff.

Basically: lighter weight, tougher board, doesn't make us feel weird about the planet. that's the bamboo move. It's not revolutionary or anything. just... better materials in the right places. built to actually last.

Ride the Aloha.

Ever wonder what’s actually inside your paddleboard? Let’s geek out for a second.

Pau Hana boards aren’t hollow shells, they’re engineered from the core out:

• EPS foam core - lightweight, buoyant, and vacuum-compressed for strength
• Epoxy resin infusion - bonds everything together without the weight
• Bamboo reinforcements - added in high-stress areas for flex and durability
• Corebrace™ - high-density support under every fin box and mount
• Goretex vent plug - self-regulates core pressure so your board stays healthy

Now you know what you’re standing on. 🤓

This summer, every body of water between here and there is a paddle spot.

The Solo SUP™ turns any road trip into a paddle trip. Pull over at a reservoir you’ve never heard of. Detour to a river gorge that looked good on the map. Park at a trailhead and hike to the water nobody knows about.

14.8 lbs. Fits behind the seat. Inflates in minutes. Packs away even faster.

Your itinerary doesn’t need to include the word “paddleboard.” But it will.

Where’s the road trip headed?

Not every board needs to be complicated. Some just need to be great.

The 10’6 Malibu Classic is proof that simple done right beats fancy every time. Wide enough to feel bulletproof on your first day. Tough enough to survive years of real use. Light enough to toss on the roof without thinking twice.

VFT construction with Kevlar rails means this board can take a beating from paddles, rocks, docks, and overenthusiastic beginners, and still look good on year three. 🤙

Summer road trip checklist:

▫Playlist loaded
▫ Tank full
▫ Solo SUP™ behind the seat
▫ Zero plan. Maximum stoke.

The Solo SUP packs into a 40L drybag at 14.8 lbs - small enough to fit behind the passenger seat, in your trunk, or on your back if the road ends and the trail begins.

Every lake, river, and coastline between here and wherever you’re going just became a pit stop. That’s the beauty of a board that goes where you go.

Where’s the road trip headed this summer? Tell us.
