Tom Falkard shaped and glassed his first board in a spare room at his buddy’s house in 1982 at the age of 13.
He remembers riding the board during the “EPIC” El Nino sand bar at the San Lorenzo River mouth that same year; the sandbar went from nearly the end of the Santa Cruz wharf to the beach. It was the shaper Joey Thomas who first caught Tom’s attention in the shaping world; so many surfers he looked up to as a kid rode JT boards.
