The WSKA has locked down a 2027 World Surf Kayak Championship! September, Scotland, in a wave pool are the basics.

𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗳 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳

We are incredibly excited to announce that the 2027 World Championships of Surf Kayaking will be held in Scotland at Lost Shore Surf Resort, September 23rd -24th!

That's right, we're bringing the world championships to the pool! It's been a long year working to make this event feasible and we're so happy to finally be able to share the news with you.

This is a unique opportunity for the sport of surf kayaking, as we’ve never held an event of this magnitude in a wave pool, and we are thrilled that Lost Shore is welcoming our competitors to their incredible state-of-the-art facility.

There will be some adjustments made to our normal World Championship structure, but rest assured that we will endeavor to accommodate our usual number of entrants.

We know you’ll have many questions. We do not have all of the answers now, but more details will be released in due course to cover the rules, entry, lodging, practice sessions, etc. and we will be hosting a webinar in November to answer questions about the event. We also expect to release further details about accommodation packages with Lost Shore at the end of November.

It's an honor for us in the WSKA to be bringing the World Championships of Surf Kayaking back to the first nation to organize a world championships for our sport and we couldn't have done this without the fantastic support of Chris Heaney, Ian and Tracey Sherrington.

2026 was the 35th annual Santa Cruz Paddlefest. It was a truly great year, especially because of the return of the race. Thanks Candice Appleby! It also offered up beautiful weather and contestable waves.

We want to extend a massive thank you to each and every person and organization that made the event happen; competitors, sponsors, volunteers, water safety, the City of Santa Cruz, photographers, videographers, spectators, fans, and so many others.

We're already getting excited for 2027! Stay tuned for an announcement on that front later this week.
