Ullr Traditional Bows

"While FEHU is the symbol of a domesticated cattle, and Uruz is a symbol of the wild bovine, a reminder that cattle were once wild creatures. If Fehu represents young lovers, Uruz represents young warriors.

Though Uruz energy is also heavily invested in the hamingja, it is not suited for easy, conscious control as Fehu is. It is the rune of powerful unconscious shaping energies that need to be guided wisely as they manifest. It is an early reminder within the series that the untamed powers of creativity are not without danger – a reality quite clear in our modern technological civilization. It is the user’s skill and practiced techniques that will control the energy unleashed by this rune. It is the rune of independence, asserting oneself and one’s territory.

Life’s persistence and its endless resourcefulness in the task of survival are all implicit within the rune meaning of Uruz, thus it is a rune of manifestation, regeneration and endurance. The organic patterning energy of Uruz laces up the skin, sustains the ego and can be used to protect the psyche from trauma. Self-healing is the energy which pulls a diseased or ill form back toward its ‘primal blueprint’: the original, invisible shape intended by nature’s design.

Uruz is the rune of the inner-King and inner-Queen. We can assert our right to exist and be free in the very same primal authority that the aurochs did theirs. It is the will to live passionate and free."

3 bows in the works. Here's the plan: a cocobolo riser with bubinga limbs, a tiger myrtle riser with walnut limbs, and another tiger myrtle riser with mango limbs (walnut in the core on that one). Expect pictures of them in the next month or two!

Also, static recurve design is in the works, delayed because of the above bows, but should be for sale around Feb or March.

Sorry for the lack of updates/bow pictures! Couple big changes happening that have been preventing me from making any bows. My supplier quit the business, and thus I've been scrambling to get the machinery and material necessary to grind my own lams. Will open up a lot more creative opportunities in the bow building process and will ultimately result in higher quality bows! Have also started working with a wood jewelry company which has been eating up a bit more of my time, but shouldn't too strongly impact lead times. May be a bit longer till I start getting some photos up, but got at least 3 bows lined up for when I can start building again! Also, one spot left for getting a custom bow for the price of the standard, that's $650 down to $500. All later orders will run normal prices! Thanks!

Have two bows to start working on here in the next week or so. One is a customer's who chose to do an actionwood riser with bocote limbs, the other is to be the demo bow. Was going to use my bow as the demo bow, but realized most people aren't going to be able to pull a 65 # bow, or if they can, won't be able to pay attention to how it actually shoots haha. I also ordered some more veneers, this time some beautifully figured bubinga. Should see it on a bow here in a month or so!

Two sets of veneers I just ordered. One is Laurel burl, the other is a beautiful piece of mahogany. Keep an eye out for them on the next round of bows! Got two customers to build for, then one for myself and one as a gift!
