Campus Elections The Dean of Students Office is pleased to announce the 2015 Campus Elections process. Students and campus staff and faculty will have the opportunity to propose new or amended campus based fees, amendments to the SUA Constitution, or opinion polls.

Voting starts TOMORROW!! Vote for these amazing College Representatives!! Each one has SUA experience by being an appointed representative for their colleges! After seeing them work this year, it is obvious that these students are dedicated to bettering our university!

Last but certainly not least is Brad Mlyenek, our candidate for the SUA Organizing Director! A third year Human Biology major from Crown, Brad is also a tour guide, research assistant, and plays for the Men's Club Soccer Team. In theses spaces Brad realized that most students don't know much about the SUA, and decided to run for OD in part because he wants to increase the SUA's visibility to students.

Next year Brad wants to bring back the live-stream of SUA meetings so that students who are unable to attend can still stay informed about what is being discussed. He will hold educational forums about student actions, so that the student body can be informed about what strikes mean, why they are happening, what concerns they may cause, and how we as students can collectively enact change.

You've seen him before, but Max Hufft is back and is running to be your next Commissioner of Academic Affairs! Max is a third year computer science major from Crown who has served as the Chair of Crown Student Senate, and has also worked as a Student Supervisor in Dining Services. As the current Internal Vice Chair Max has worked on such great events as the first ever Edge of Eden music festival, and now he is ready to shift his focus back to academics to ensure that UCSC students are receiving the quality education we deserve!

Max has experience working with faculty as the student representative to the UC systemwide Committee on Educational Policy, and has tons of great ideas for the CAA office. Next year he wants to revitalize the Student Academic Senate and work with UCSC faculty to ensure that major qualification policies are fair to students, so that students are able to get into the majors they are interested in. He will also reform end-of-quarter course evaluations to include questions about class availability so the academic divisions know who is (and is not) getting into the courses they need to graduate on time.

Check out our candidate for Commissioner of Diversity, Israel Molina! He is a second year from College 8 double majoring in Environmental Science and Politics. This year he has served as the External Vice Chair of the Q***r Student Union and the Chief of Staff to the current Commissioner of Diversity. Israel identifies as a gay Latino male, but believes that diversity is all encompassing, and wants to celebrate our points of intersectionality.

As CoD Israel will be dedicated to creating a more inclusive campus climate, and believes the first step in creating a more tolerant university is education. He plans to create a cultural competency program that all students will complete before entering the university, and will also work to incentivize the faculty Diversity Certificate Program so that our professors can be role models of inclusivity and cultural acceptance. Israel will also create a Volunteer Task Force that student organizations can tap into when they need extra assistance in executing student programs.
