Today is that special day of the year for me—May 29 is my Momma’s Happy Heavenly 104th Birthdate. And, it’s the Anniversary of my business! 41 years and going strong AF!
Loving all the women and girls (and a few brave men) whom I serve on the daily—watching the shift that happens internally for them and their bodies through the workouts that we do here daily, weekly, month after month, year after year after year. I’m honored these humans trust me and I’m grateful for their presence in my life. So much gratitude for all my ‘cheerleaders.’
Thank you to each and every one of you who’s made it possible for me to still be in business!
I gotta really thank my Mom & Dad for what they did and who they were, and since today is Momma‘s birthday, I’m celebrating her. We always celebrated her Birthday on June 3 (the day she was baptized). It wasn’t until later years that we found out the true date of her birth was May 29.
She was an entrepreneur from the get-go. Always the Fashionista City Girl who learned to sew and
made her own clothing. Every stitch perfect. She made the most vibrant, beautiful pieces of clothing and designs for entire wedding parties, long red velvet capes with all the glittery rhinestones on the ‘hoods’ that stood up stiff behind the head) for ‘queens’ in Mexican parades, she made three-piece men suits. And the wedding dresses!!! Just over-the-top phenomenal. She could make anything.
I’m so grateful for her tenacity, her determination, her perseverance, her grit and her resiliency. Here she is pictured in Italy in her 20’s. And at her 100th birthday party celebration.

Denim Day was born on the last Wednesday of April in 1999. April is Sexual Assault Awareness month. In 1992 in Italy, an 18-year-old was r***d by her 45-year-old driving instructor. He was convicted and sent to prison. In 1998 he appealed it and he won., based on the fact that she was wearing tight jeans, therefore she must’ve helped him take the jeans off making it consensual s*x. The women of the Italian parliament showed up on the steps of their Supreme Court, all wearing jeans in protest of this ruling. Someone in LA got wind of it. In 1999, the last Wednesday of April was the launch of Denim Day in LA. It has spread worldwide ever since.
