There’s nothing wrong with travel ball.

Some organizations do an amazing job developing kids. And for many families, it can be one of the best experiences—until it isn’t.

Too often, travel ball starts getting in the way:

* Gone every other weekend, sometimes every weekend
* Practices year-round
* Tension when your kid wants to play another sport

All of that for low-level tournaments that may not provide the exposure you’re hoping for—or the development you expected.

This isn’t an attack on travel ball. It’s a parenting decision that deserves more thought. Even travel ball should have a season—not run year-round.

We’re burning out kids and families over a sport most kids are unlikely to play in college, especially with the way we approach development now.

The answer is better development.

Not just hiring a friend who happens to be a trainer or coach. Actually investing in a program that can elevate your kid’s performance.

Most kids won’t play in college or the pros. But they will become adults.

America’s future deserves to experience meaningful progress—and to learn what good development looks like, along with the discipline and confidence that come with it.

Spend too much time online and you’ll be convinced plyos are the key to stronger tendons.

That’s not what the science says.

Plyos—sprints and fast-contact jumps—are excellent for improving reactive stiffness and how efficiently the muscle-tendon system transfers force. During explosive movements, tendons act like stiff springs: storing, transmitting, and releasing energy quickly.

That’s why the biggest benefit of plyos for tendon health is improved force transfer and elastic function—not necessarily maximizing tendon strength.

To build stronger, more load-tolerant tendons, you still need high force—but it must be applied long enough to create meaningful stress within the tendon.

That’s where heavy strength training—ideally above 80% of your max—and isometrics come in.

High force.
Slow contractions.
Longer time under tension.

That’s how we flex tendons at The Yard.

You actually have to get fast and powerful to do fast and powerful things

No amount of technique can increase performance if you lack the underlying tool set

This is why the best train and do skill work

They understand their skill will always be limited by their outputs

Our athletes are getting better!

Who’s next!?

If the cage work matched the complaining then we’d have some of the best ball players in the country

Instead we continue to over prioritize defense when we can’t hit

Waste money on camps instead of investing in training

This is not to say those other things can’t be done, but if we are not hitting more than anything else….

Our career will be shorter than longer in this game
