The hardest person to coach in Sidekicks isn't the two-year-old.
It's you. 😀

Your kid is halfway up, one foot slipping, face doing that thing. Every instinct in your body says go get them. However, every instinct is wrong,. We know it's wrong, and we know it's almost unbearable to sit with.

Because the moment we lift them past the hard part, we've taught them the hard part requires a grown-up. That lesson sticks around a lot longer than the obstacle does.

So we stand close. We keep them safe. And we let them be stuck for about four seconds longer than feels comfortable.

Then they figure it out. And they spin around to find your face, not to be rescued, but to be seen. That look on a three-year-old is the entire reason this gym exists.

We'll challenge them. We'll never leave them alone in it. And some days the coaching is for the grown-up 😀
