Sporting added another W to it's tally defeating LA UNION 3-1 in Sunday night action. Goals were povided by Alex Racca , one from distance and one from the spot and Jamie Duffy.

Sporting was in control for much of the game but was still a bit sloppy as they continue to come together. Charlie Reiter played his best match in the middle to help propel an offense that is starting to find it's legs.

Scott Turple had another exceptional effort in goal, making a dazzling fully extended diving save on one attempt, and also coming up big with a big PK stuff to keep Sporting +1 late in the 2nd half.

Last Sunday SM Sporting took on Jamay in their latest match and cruised to a 6-0 victory.

Jamay are a quality side, and while a margin of victory that large would suggest otherwise, it must be noted that the finishing touch of Ben Nicholson provided reasoning for such a big number. Benny was able to net 4 goals before being replaced in the 53rd minute.

Sporting played a 4-2-3-1 formation that provided a much needed spark to it's offense and created numerous chances on goal.

Scott Turpel continued his stellar play in the net to preserve the shutout.

Sporting Santa Monica Lost a tough early season top of the league battle to San Nicolas FC last night by the score of 2-4. Sporting took a 1-0 lead into the end of the first half with a goal by Tai Doan, but could not hold on to the lead going into halftime. After a missed shot off the post by Alex Racca, San Nicolas countered and tied it up at 1-1. After trading early second half goals, the game was 2-2 going into the last 15 minutes of the game when some unlucky breaks and tired legs gave San Nicolas 3-2 lead. An unfortunate yellow card accumulation saw sporting down to 10 men followed by a 4th goal, two of which were from the spot.

Sporting fielded five new players in the match and things are improving every game as the new guys get more comfortable in their position. Sportings next game is Sunday March 5th.

Santa Monica Sporting FC got back to their winning ways in the LA Premier League by Defeating the New Generation FC 1-0 on Sunday night. It was a very solid performance by the veterans on the team as well as the newcomers. Sporting's loan goal was scored in the 55th minute by second half sub Daniel Arvidsson making his official sporting debut. Sporting improves their record to 1-1 on the season and looks forward to a good week of training in preparation for their upcoming game Sunday February 19th.
