* Jaime stands tall in the standings in first place with a record of 6-3 and .667 percentage. That's his second week holding steady. He is also second in the HR standings with 9 HRs. 3 shy of John who is in first place with 12 HRs
* The 1990 Oakland A's moves up 2 spots to take the lead in the standings 6-2. The 1995 Cleveland Indians get the hardest hit slipping down 4 spots to 8th with a record of 3-6.

SEASON 15 week 1 in the books. Here are the highlights of last nights games.
* Bay Area Battle with the 1993 San Francisco Giants [Joe] at the 1990 Oakland A's [David]. The Gaints had no chance as the A's started off with the steroid bats. Crushing the Giants 0-7.
* Canada Series with the 1992 Toronto Blus Jays [Lance/Mike] vs the 1994 Montreal Expos [Sean]. Its was a close game but the Jays get the victory 5-4.
* The 1994 Montreal Expos [Sean] at the 1998 Houston Astros [Heidi] was the biggest scoring game with the Astros winning 2-10 and hitting 3 HRs.
* [Lea] cleans up the nights with 3 straight wins with her 1995 Cleveland Indians. She takes the lead in the standings 3-0.
* [Heidi] hits the most HRs tonight with her 1998 Houston Astros with 6 HRs. She takes the lead in the HR Stangings.

Game 1 of the Season 14 World Series opened in Oakland, as the 1989 A’s hosted the 1986 Mets in front of a charged and expectant crowd.

With Mike and Lance’s A’s holding home-field advantage, and John’s Mets stepping into a hostile environment, the stage was set for a classic showdown to begin the series.

What followed was a dramatic back-and-forth battle that turned into an instant classic.

Mid-Game Breakthrough – Mets Strike First
The game remained scoreless until the top of the 6th inning, when the Mets finally broke through. With the bases loaded, Keith Hernandez showed patience at the plate, drawing a clutch walk to force in the first run of the series and give New York a 1-0 lead.

Moments later, with the bases still loaded, Mitchell delivered again for the Mets, lining a single into right field to bring home another run and extend the lead to 2-0.

In a shocking development during the 6th inning, Oakland star Jose Canseco was forced to leave the game with a severe injury after scraping and badly cutting his finger on the edge of a metal dugout bench. The momentum only grew in the 2nd inning. Gary Carter stepped to the plate and delivered a massive three-run home run, blowing the game open and extending New York’s lead to 5-0.

Oakland Responds, But Too Late
The A’s began to chip away in the top of the 4th inning when Mark McGwire launched a solo home run to get Oakland on the board, making it 5-1.

Still, Mets pitching held firm through the middle innings, preventing any serious rally.

In the top of the 8th, Stan Javier contributed with an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 5-2, but it would prove to be the final push for Oakland.

Closing It Out

Oakland answered in a big way in the bottom of the 4th. Tony Phillips got things started with an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1. Carney Lansford followed with a sacrifice that tied the game at 2-2.

Moments later, Rickey Henderson came through with an RBI single, giving the A’s their first lead of the game at 3-2.

Oakland Adds Insurance
In the 5th inning, Stan Javier added to the lead with a solo home run, pushing Oakland ahead 4-2.

However, the A’s suffered another major blow in the 6th inning when Tony Phillips slipped on a rain-soaked base and suffered a severe ankle sprain, knocking him out for the remainder of the series.

Ninth-Inning Chaos – Mets Rally
Trailing 4-2 entering the 9th, the Mets mounted a stunning comeback.
