It’s a wrap! What a year! What a horse! What a team! This year will go down as a great one. It started with an amazing clinic with Olil here at home and it set the tone for the year for Gígur. He continued to improve and get stronger throughout the year! We competed in 4 different states. Starting with the Five-Gait Farm show in Oregon in March where Bella got to show him as well for the first time with very good results. Then it was the triple WorldRanking here at Flying C Ranch where he continued to improve overall and especially in T1 where we reached some of our personal bests including our first 9.0 for fast tölt. Bella rode him in the youth classes here as well also reaching her personal bests and topping the ranking in T8 with a large lead. Then in September we traveled to Colorado on our way to Iowa for the Tamangur Icelandic Horses show. Gígur continued to get stronger and we had great results there as well and continued being undefeated. Last show for us of the year was then the National championship at Harmony Icelandics in Iowa where we topped the year with our personal best in the T1 and V1 final and sealing a USIHC Diamond level medal in T1. Gígur is the second horse in US history to reach that honor after our own Dynjandi frá Dalvík. We are so very proud of how he is growing as a sport horse with all the work and training. This would not be possible without an amazing team behind us and the support of family, friends and the best trainer!

🌟 Celebrating Good & Harmonious Riding! 🌟

At World Ranking events, judges can submit the names of riders they felt demonstrated a riding style that puts the horse first, showing a harmonious relationship. This list exemplifies FEIF’s (International Federation of Icelandic Horse Associations) continued push to improve riding skills and advance the welfare of our beloved Icelandic horse.

Most excitingly, the two most-nominated riders in the WORLD are U.S. competitors! 🇺🇸🏆

🌟 Ásta Dögg Bjarnadóttir-Covert leads with an incredible eight nominations!

🌟 Caeli Cavanagh follows closely with seven nominations!

An honorable mention goes to fellow American competitors Paetra Hennigar, with three nominations, and Alex Dannenmann, with two.

What an incredible showing for American Icelandic horse sport on the world stage!

Bella’s favorite mare Karafla frá Miðási came with too to Colorado and Iowa where Bella rode her in both the shows reaching a personal best at the Tamangur Icelandic Horses show in the youth fourgait and racing to a first place finish in the cross country Harmony Icelandics in Iowa! Those two always have the best time together no matter what they are up to.

Gígur’s little brother Geysir traveled with us to Colorado and Iowa. Bella rode him in the youth classes in Iowa at the US championships and they were first place in Fourgait and second in tolt. Great start for his first show! He is born 2019 and was imported in March this year. He has settled in so nicely. Geysir is a full brother to our stallion Gígur. Both are born and raised at Gangmyllan
