MEET THE TEAM MONDAY

This week, we're shining the spotlight on one of the friendly faces who helps keep Stoneybrook looking its very best — Ana Valencia!

For the past 8 years, Ana has been an important part of our housekeeping team, helping create the welcoming atmosphere our members enjoy every day. Before joining Stoneybrook, Ana gained experience working in hotels and even spent time planting and gardening in a nursery, developing the attention to detail and care she brings to her work today.

When asked where she'd most like to be, Ana didn't hesitate: right here in the United States. She loves living here and says there's nowhere else she'd rather be.

If she had to choose just one type of food to eat forever? Seafood wins every time!

Ana's perfect day is all about spending quality time with the people (and pup!) she loves most. You'll likely find her exploring local parks with her husband, family, and her beloved dog, Penny, making memories and enjoying the outdoors.

She's especially excited for the upcoming season and the return of our members. One of Ana's favorite things about Stoneybrook is the people, and she looks forward to seeing familiar faces back around the club.

And here's something you may not know about her: Ana is also a talented party and event decorator! She loves transforming spaces and bringing special celebrations to life with her creativity and eye for design.

Thursday nights at Stoneybrook mean one thing… Rib Night! 🍖

Join us this Thursday evening and enjoy our delicious dinner specials, including our fan-favorite Baby Back Ribs and slow-roasted Prime Rib served fresh from the kitchen.

Whether you're craving fall-off-the-bone ribs or a perfectly prepared cut of prime rib, we’ve got your Thursday dinner plans covered. Pair it with your favorite drink, relax with friends, and enjoy another great evening at the club.

Yesterday's much-needed rain also brought a lightning strike to Stoneybrook, hitting between #6 Green and #7 Tee Box. The strike caused a small fire in the area, but it was quickly addressed and everything was handled safely.

A quick thank you to those who helped alert the proper responders and to our local Fire Station for their fast response.

We've attached a few photos showing the initial strike area and after it was extinguished.

This also serves as a reminder about lightning safety on the course. When you hear the warning siren, please exit the course and move to a safe location immediately. While it may seem convenient, trees are not a safe option for shelter during lightning events — as these photos serve as a reminder.

Your safety is always our top priority.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY

This week we sat down with Matt Merkel!

Matt has been part of the Stoneybrook family since 2013, with one small detour along the way. From April through October of 2019, Matt traded Florida sunshine for island life in Maui. While he left as a lead, he returned ready for a new opportunity as a server — proving that even after a Hawaiian adventure, home still called him back. Turns out Sarasota was the paradise he was looking for all along. In Matt’s words… it was and still is even better than Maui! 🌴

A few fun facts about Matt:

👉Food he couldn’t live without: Smoothies
👉 Perfect day: Out on the boat with good weather, calm seas, and plenty of bait
👉 Dream destination: Surprisingly, nowhere! Matt loves Sarasota and can’t think of a place he’d rather be
👉 Looking ahead to next season: He’s excited to see everyone return — Matt loves our members and enjoys the energy that comes with a busy season
👉 Hidden talent: Matt is also a handyman. Need something fixed? Matt might just be your guy!

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

As we spend time with family, friends, and our community, we are reminded of the freedoms we enjoy because of their courage and dedication.
