Hello everyone! Let's talk about something crucial for our health - movement! 💪 Did you know that prolonged sitting isn't just bad for your posture? It can seriously mess with your hips, back, and shoulders. Studies show that even just 30 minutes of sitting can start to negatively impact your body.
😱 Here's what can happen:
🔥 Hips: When you sit for long stretches, your hip flexors can tighten up, leading to discomfort, stiffness, and even pain. Over time, this can affect your mobility and flexibility.
💼 Back: Slouching over your desk or hunching in front of a screen can wreak havoc on your spine. It puts extra pressure on the discs in your back, leading to that familiar lower back pain. Youch!
💪 Shoulders: Hours spent typing away or scrolling through your phone can cause your shoulders to hunch forward and your chest muscles to tighten. This not only strains your shoulders but can also lead to tension headaches and neck pain.
Next time you find yourself glued to your seat for prolonged periods, remember to take regular breaks to stand up, stretch, and move around.
⏰⌛ Setting a timer for regular breaks can make a big difference. Try this: every 30 minutes, stand up, stretch, walk around, or do a quick exercise. It's a simple but effective way to keep your body active and prevent the harmful effects of extended sitting.
Your hips, back, and shoulders will thank you! 🙏

Greetings!
Happy Fall! We are very excited to announce our first offerings of Restorative Yoga at Jennifer Lee Pilates. This will truly be a collaborative effort for us, as Louie will also be participating in restorative yoga instruction and playing live music for meditation.
Restorative yoga is a gentle yoga practice centered on holding supported stretches for longer periods of time. It differs from other forms of yoga in being more about relaxation and mindful awareness. You will be guided through a slow-moving sequence of poses designed to promote physical and mental clarity and to help you focus on the moment. The intention is not to engage in strenuous effort, but to become deeply comfortable in simple poses, supported by props such as bolster pillows, soft blocks, and blankets.
As poses are held for several minutes, one is invited to attend to the natural rhythms of one’s breathing. Gentle, calming music (recorded and played live) offers further opportunities for bringing attention to the slowly unfurling moment of practice. Sessions will conclude with guided or silent meditation, aided by the healing sounds of tongue drums, Tibetan singing bowls, and prayer bells.
Group class starts Saturday, October 26th at 11am. We will also hold sessions Tuesday evenings at 6:15--consider this a great way to earn your day .Pre-registration is needed. Please reserve your spot using the link below:
