Organizations team up to offer kids free backpacks ahead of school year | Your Observer The first Badges and Backpacks event included free backpacks, lessons in bike safety, and other offerings for kids as they begin the school year.

What an incredible way to get our community’s kids ready for a new school year!

Today, the Sarasota City YMCA was proud to welcome local families for Badges & Backpacks, and our annual Bike Rodeo where students geared up for Monday with backpacks, school supplies, bike helmets, haircuts, manicures, snacks, and plenty of smiles along the way.

Our community showed up, making sure every child walks into the first day of school feeling confident, supported, and ready to succeed.

A huge thank you to the Sarasota Police Department Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club, and all our community partners, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make today possible. This is what happens when a community comes together for its kids. 💙
