Today, we’re excited to officially reveal our PACK Challenge 2026 brand and competition journey!
But first, what is the PACK Challenge?
Hosted by PMMI, the PACK Challenge is a national engineering competition that challenges high school students to develop innovative robotic packaging solutions inspired by real industrial automation applications. More than just a robotics competition, teams must combine engineering, robotics, design, programming, business strategy, and marketing to create a complete solution to a real packaging challenge.
Participants are evaluated not only on their technical design and creativity, but also on project documentation, business planning, marketing, and their ability to effectively communicate their ideas to industry professionals.
We are proud to announce that our team has advanced to the PACK Challenge Finals and will be competing at PACK EXPO International 2026 in Chicago, where finalists from across the country will present their solutions to leaders in the packaging and automation industry.
This opportunity allows us to apply engineering skills in a real-world environment while gaining experience in automation, manufacturing, teamwork, and professional presentation.
Follow along as we share our progress, behind the scenes development, design updates, prototypes, testing milestones, and our journey to PACK EXPO 2026.
Our team name pays tribute to Sartell’s original name, Third Rapids, while embracing the advanced technology and industrial innovation that define modern automation. The logo combines three key elements that represent both our community and our mission.
Our team name pays tribute to Sartell’s original name, Third Rapids, while embracing the advanced technology and industrial innovation that define modern automation. Our logo brings together three symbols that tell our story: the Third Rapids of the Mississippi River, Sartell’s history as a paper mill town, and the robotics and automation that drive our PACK Challenge project. Together, these elements represent where we come from, what we’re building, and where we’re headed.
