Flat calm on the Marin Coast. Unfortunately the offshore weather is not quite so nice today so we had to cancel our OS Farallon Island trip.
SOOOO…. What does the Salty Dawn Deckhands A team do ?? Well, they took the Whaler out - & they killed it !! 2 limits… one nice one & 3 that were on the “too big” side…. 🤔😉😎

Today our 15 anglers landed 14 King Salmon, and scared the hell out of several others but left them there with sore lips for tomorrow. THANK YOU STEF for getting all the guys to come out. This one would not have happened without YOU !!

Every day really is different, but fishing has been very good. Big fish, and consistent scores of just under or over a fish per rod… with common reports of limits. This kind of action all but certainly means that we WILL reach our quota of 20K fish. And when that happens, that’s it for 2026. The latest data on counts will be available in the next couple days….

Another fine day of Salmon fishing !!
Still getting used to fishing from the Cal Dawn 1. We’re making some minor tweaks to the rod positioning for Salmon trolling as the boat has primarily been used for drifting in the past - (Rockfish & Lingcod, Stripers, Halibut…). Getting it dialed in though. Today we had 18 Salmon for the day.
We ended up fishing right next to the New Cal Dawn & the Cal Dawn 2… creating a Cal Dawn Triangle at one point. Deck Boss Jonathan was up in the wheelhouse and noticed that the Halibut marking on the fish finder looked scared…. 😂🤣

PSA - The Cal Dawn 1 is back in the Bay Area and she is a fishy boat. Due to some mechanical issues with the Salty Lady, we will be running our trips on the ORIGINAL California Dawn. Same Salty Lady location in Sausalito, same Salty Lady Captain & crew….
Sorry if I missed posting for a minute… needless to say we’ve been just a bit busy these last couple of days making this happen but today was our 1st day with the boat, and we definitely started off this phase with a bang. LIMITS OF HAWGS for our regular private charter from Napa !!!

Steve placed the high bid on my donated charter for our Golden Gate Fisherman's Association fundraising dinner/auction/raffle…. a very generous bid indeed.
