Summertime self-rescuin’ 🥰💦🙌🏼

These sweeties and so many others are either learning swimming & self-rescue skills for the first time or are back to “refresh” their previously learned ✨in-water tricks✨

I was SO encouraged & proud of what I saw today at Tybee🤩🌊🏝️

Children in brightly colored swimsuits & caregivers who were SO engaged! Specifically:
✨holding toddlers’ little hands, leading them to the water
✨carrying babies in and out of the ocean
✨active supervision from a safe distance
✨VERY few children in floatation devices

It was AMAZING‼️ The tides feel like they’re turning, and I am SO HERE FOR IT!🎉💦

As a parent with 4 kiddos, I know it can be so tough navigating water environments safely. I personally lean on baby wearing and avoiding pools when the parent to child ratio is above 1:2 to make life more manageable.

Opt for sprinklers, splash pads, or water tables when it’s too overwhelming or your attention is split🫶🏼

These cuties and many more are back for a round of ISR refresher lessons!🎉💦

Once children acquire Self-Rescue skills in an initial 6-7 week course, we highly encourage their families to return for 3 week refresher lessons 1-2 times annually. As the name implies, we “refresh” their previously learned skills and progress swimming skills as their age & development allows!🐠🥰🏊‍♀️

There are many actionable steps we can take as parents/caregivers to prevent a water accident. "Drown-proof" is simply unattainable, but there is so much HOPE for our little ones when we implement drowning-prevention strategies👏💕

📢Also, a quick announcement for returning ISR Families: enrollment is OPEN for the June 8-July 24 summer (morning) session in Gordonston🎉

Any remaining time slots will be released to new families on Saturday at 10am!💦

The ISR Savannah fam has grown! Leo made his grand entrance Oct 10th and is doing great☺️

Little fun fact/some aquatic humor: I was open to a water birth, but this little dude was so excited to meet us that the tub was only filled to ankle-deep water when he was ready to go😂

Lastly, a big thank you to all the swim parents who (literally) watched me grow this year and prioritized getting your kiddos into lessons when I wasn’t able to offer as long of a swim season as usual. Y’all are the best!💦
