⚾ SABL 18+ SPRING/SUMMER SEASON RECAP ⚾

After a month and a half of working to complete the remaining games, the SABL 18+ Spring/Summer season has officially come to a close!

For the first time ever—or at least as far as we know—one team has swept both divisions. After winning the 35+ League, the Braves completed the sweep by surviving a long, three-game Sunday and capturing the 18+ championship!

GAME 1: Knights vs. Little Lucky’s
This game was a pitching duel from start to finish, with one big swing making the difference.
Jarrett Karnibad pitched a gem for the Knights, throwing a complete game while allowing only four hits and one earned run and recording seven strikeouts. Andrew Mann was even better for Little Lucky’s, also throwing a four-hit complete game while striking out 14.
The decisive blow came in the fourth inning when Anthony Miranda parked one in the trees for a three-run homer, giving Little Lucky’s a 3–0 victory and a spot in the championship game.

GAME 2: Braves vs. Royals
The scoring was slow but steady in this one.
The Braves struck first in the third inning when Daniel Jackson brought home a run with a sacrifice fly following a pair of stolen bases. The Royals answered in the bottom half when Hudson Farmer drove in Dylan Wallace after his triple, then added another run in the fourth to take a 2–1 lead.
The Braves responded in the top of the sixth, using a string of singles to score three runs and retake the lead, 4–2. Brandon Wallace made it a one-run game in the bottom of the inning with a home run.
After the Braves went quietly in the seventh, the Royals opened the bottom half with two straight singles. Two quick outs left them down to their final chance. Hudson Farmer then lined a ball to shortstop and reached safely, but the runner attempting to score from third was thrown out at home to end the game.
The Braves held on for a 4–3 victory and advanced to face Little Lucky’s for the championship.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Braves vs. Little Lucky’s
Little Lucky’s jumped out to an early lead, taking advantage of a couple of Braves errors and a walk before Brandon Whitmore cleared the bases with a three-run hit. Whitmore later scored to give Little Lucky’s a 4–0 lead.
The Braves answered in the top of the third when Daniel Jackson drove in three runs, cutting the deficit to 4–3.
After several quiet innings, the Braves broke the game open in the seventh. A couple of Little Lucky’s errors and a flurry of Braves hits allowed them to bat through the lineup and take a 9–4 lead.
Charlie Harrell then finished off his complete game with a strikeout and two groundouts, sealing the championship victory for the Braves!

We know the season stretched out longer than expected, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience, flexibility, and hard work. We look forward to seeing everyone back in 2027!

⚾ SABL 18+ TOURNAMENT UPDATE ⚾

We were finally able to get some baseball in and make some progress on the SABL 18+ Tournament! Two games are in the books, and we’ve got our next matchups set!

🧢 WHITE SOX vs. KNIGHTS

The scoring got started in the top of the 2nd inning when the White Sox put together a walk, a single, and a double by Frank Villella, bringing two runs across. The Knights were able to limit the damage and get out of the inning down just 2-0.

The Knights answered in the bottom of the 3rd. After a single, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch, the Knights pushed their first run across. Another walk followed by a single from Deshaun Collins brought home two more runs, giving the Knights a 4-2 lead heading into the 4th.

Both teams added a run in the 4th, making it 5-3 Knights.

In the 5th, the Knights brought Cole Busby to the mound, and he shut the door on the White Sox. Busby recorded 6 of the final 9 outs via strikeout, keeping the White Sox off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

The Knights added the final two runs in the bottom of the 6th after Anthony Caracci singled to center, making the final:

🟢 SPARTANS vs. BRAVES

This one stayed quiet through the first two innings before the Braves broke through in the 3rd.

Justin Brown got things started with a double, followed by a single and a couple of sacrifice plays to bring in the first three runs of the game.

The Braves added five more runs after a couple of walks and a hit-by-pitch set the table. Then Wesley Wilkes stepped to the plate and launched a GRAND SLAM 🚀💥 to give the Braves an 8-0 lead.

On the mound, Matt Rogers got the start for the Braves and put together an outstanding performance. Rogers went 5.2 innings, allowing NO runs while striking out 6. He was pulled in the top of the 6th, but after the Spartans began to mount a rally against the reliever, Rogers was called back upon to finish the job.

Rogers returned to the mound and promptly recorded the final two outs via strikeout, closing out his own start and preserving the Braves' lead. 💪🔥

The Spartans were able to push three runs across in the 6th, but time expired before they could complete the comeback.

🏆 BRAVES 8 — SPARTANS 3

Pitching Note:
⚾ Matt Rogers — Braves: 5.2 IP, 6 K, 0 Runs Allowed — and returned to close out the game with two more strikeouts.

Due to Mother Nature for the last month the league is adjusting the playoffs to make sure we are done before October.

The Knights and Royals game is deemed completed with the Royals winning 7-1. The Braves and Little Lucky's is also being deemed complete with Little Lucky's winning 7-3.

🚨 GOOD LUCK, SAND GNATS! ⚾️

We want to wish both of our 18+ and 30+ Savannah Sand Gnats teams the best of luck as they head down to Davenport, FL this weekend to compete in the Florida Invitational! 🌴⚾️

We know we’re sending the best of the best to represent Savannah and the Savannah Adult Baseball League (SABL). We’re proud of both teams and can’t wait to see what they accomplish!

Now let’s bring home TWO pieces of hardware and get them back to the SABL! 🏆🏆

🏆 Congratulations to the 35+ Braves! 🏆

The Braves took 2 out of 3 games from the Knights to capture the 35+ Championship!

The scoring got started in the 2nd inning when Daniel Jackson launched a solo home run. The Braves then added another run with some smart baserunning to take an early lead.

In the 3rd inning, the Braves added four more runs after three walks, a fielder’s choice, another walk, and two singles to extend their lead.

The Knights finally got on the board in the top of the 5th, putting together several singles and a sacrifice fly. Brad Spencer then doubled to left field, driving in two more runs and cutting the deficit to 6-3.

But the Braves answered right back in the bottom of the 5th. Four singles and a hit-by-pitch brought three more runs across the plate, pushing the Braves' lead to 9-3.

🎉 Congratulations to the Braves on another championship! This marks their 4th consecutive 30+/35+ Championship, an incredible run of success!

A huge THANK YOU to all of the players, coaches, and teams who helped make the return of the SABL 35+ Division a success. We appreciate everyone who came out, competed, and helped make this season special.

We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone back on the field next year!
