10 yrs ago today StrongGYM was born.

We knocked down walls, painted others and waited desperately for the expensive equipment to arrive. It was the heart of the recession and despite paying 1/2 a fortune up front it took 16-18 weeks for it to be delivered (2-4 wks is what I was promised). The Landlord didn’t care. None of the bill collectors did either. Bank wouldn’t help. Zero income and all expenses made for restless nights and furrowed brows. I was terrified the vendor had stolen my money and hightailed it to Mexico and I’d be a failure before we even got started. But then the first True Fitness recumbent bike arrived on an 18 wheeler in the middle of Bull Street with no lift gate or loading ramp. They hadn’t even called to say they were coming. 18 weeks of misinformation then no information. I unloaded the truck with the help of Danny Steinfeldt. Exercise equipment is very heavy. Thanks Brother!

This photo was taken exactly 30 seconds before I pushed that 300 lb box from the middle of the room, across the new wood floors to a wall. It left a deep scratch on those new wood laminate floors that is still prominent today. A reminder of the immense effort and deep scars that go into building even the smallest of businesses. This S**t ain’t easy y’all! Lol.

Strong Love and big thanks to all y’all that have helped make this biz successful. From the hundreds of clients to the 20 Personal Trainers and Massage Therapist that have worked here and helped make it so. I am deeply grateful and sincerely humbled by the support of our community during the good and rough times. Covid is just one of the many challenges we have faced along this bizarre journey. From the loss of my mom and some very dear friends and clients to the hurricanes, snow storms, floods and failures we have preserved and thrived.

I of course could never make it out the door more or less have built and maintained this business without the strong embrace of the strongest most amazing person I have ever know, Jessica Leigh Lebos. Every success I’ve had since my early 20s has been with her love, loyalty, support, strength and encouragement. We make a tremendous team. But Lord only knows what she’d be truly capable of without being busy keeping the Family Lebos’s heart, soul and fridge full of love, light and nutritious magic.

Today I am feeling Stronger than ever. I feel like I could tackle that 18 wheeler and drag it down Bull Street like a Tonka toy. But I know many of us are feeling exhausted and beat down. We can help. StrongGYM has a fantastic Massage Therapist and if you contact me I’ll give you 20% off on a 60-90 min massage to celebrate our 10 yrs in Biz.

We are of course happy to help get You Strong! So don’t be dumb. Get you some! Contact us for Personal Training or a consultation on how to manage back, hip, neck pain, MS, cancer wellness and recovery, get in great shape for sports and life or just into a shape that feels better for you.

‘Dying to Bowl’: Georgia Flirts With Disaster as Lockdown Eases

It’s been a pretty crazy few weeks. From a flood in the gym to a flood of media coverage including this little interview with the Daily Beast. Life Takes Strength. So does small business ownership. And y’all’s support is giving me all the strength I need. So thank you. All of y’all! We aren’t open. Yet. But we will be. And when we are we will rebuild our town, our country and our bodies one rep at a time.
Together.

Stay safe, sexy, fit and alive.

What You Need To Know: About Gyms Re Opening

In this edition of "What You Need to Know: Coronavirus," Mark Lebos, owner of "Strong Gym," in Savannah, speaks to GPB News's Emily Jones about his concerns ...

StrongGym is where Science meets Fitness. As an Exercise Physiologist with nearly 30 yrs experience I have dedicated/immersed myself in the profession of health and wellness. And though we are still rebuilding after our recent flood StrongGym won’t be opening for training until the consensus of the Medical and Scientific community determines it is safe for us all.

StrongGym’s clients are the life force of my business and we won’t be taking any risks with their lives. With your lives. With your loved one’s lives. We are a vector for health not death. There is no acceptable waiver for a client to sign that would consent to risks such as these. The most notable reason being that the medical and scientific community still has many unanswered questions about Coronavirus. And though I appreciate the desire to get back to the self discipline of exercise and our gym community it must be done from a place of professional responsibility. That is the compact between Gym owner and client. Anything else would be professionally irresponsible and negligent.

This is My profession. Stay safe, fit, sexy and alive. If you want information or a video on how to do that just call or DM.

These two young amazing seniors from Savannah Arts Academy are walking a marathon today. Why? Because the distance between where they are and where they want to be takes strength to get there. They are training for life. They are overcoming obstacles. They are Strong women. And they are an inspiration to me.

Good afternoon y’all.
As of today StrongGym is closed for indoor training. But the great outdoors is beckoning. We will have a schedule of bad ass outdoor workouts for all you stress eaters and home bodies. Cabin Fever won’t kill ya but it can sure make social distancing seem like a blessing. So come join me and my new awesome trainer Bekah Buckwalter for some fresh air HIIT workouts and good humor.
This is what we’ve been training for!
Life Takes Strength. Come on and get Strong. ❤️ 💪🏼

Trainer profile: Amanda Jessop

Amanda Jessop holds a degree in Physical Education from Florida State University. She is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist, AFAA Group Aerobics Instructor, and specializes in the Functional Movement Screen.

Growing up, Amanda used exercise as a form of stress management. After exercising improperly and excessively as she grew up, she developed many overuse injuries. This prompted her into researching injury prevention methods and following very reputable strength and conditioning specialists to learn how to maximize her fitness, while minimizing her risk of injury. She quickly became passionate about all areas of fitness.

After working several years in corporate America, Amanda made the bold move to pursue her passion and made a career transition into fitness full time. She is very dedicated to helping her clients become their own fitness expert, by providing information beyond just doing an exercise or workout. Her goal with her clients is to educate and equip them with the knowledge they need to exercise safely, develop body awareness, and live an active, balanced, pain free life.

When not teaching or training, or working out herself, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband Clay, and her two fur kids Wilbur and Bella. In her spare time she loves to read, blog, and take her dogs to the park.
