Every holiday used to feel so overwhelming for me.

I’d spend the whole day thinking about food, calories, whether I “deserved” to eat, and how I was going to make up for it after. One meal would turn into guilt, and guilt would turn into “I already ruined it anyway.” I wasn’t even in the moment of what I was doing or who I was spending time with.

As a recovered binge eater down 100lbs, one of the biggest things I had to learn was this:

a healthy lifestyle has to include holidays too. ❤️
Whether one BBQ or 3 will not ruin your progress.
One weekend will not erase consistency.

And temporary bloating, fullness, or water retention is not failure.
You do not need to punish yourself tomorrow.
You do not need to earn your food today.

And you definitely do not need to start over on Tuesday.

Enjoy the memories. Eat the food. Move on normally after. 🤍

Healing your relationship with food means learning how to live your life without every event revolving around guilt.

Save this for a reminder and follow for more on sustainable weight loss and binge eating recovery ❤️

Have a safe and happy holiday!

Plot twist: I did get sick… and I missed all my workouts that week.

Things don’t always go as planned, and as frustrating as it can be, it’s SO important to listen to what your body is asking for. Pushing through isn’t always the answer… and resting isn’t a setback.

I’m a recovered binge eater down 100lbs, and through almost 7 years of this journey, I’ve had plenty of weeks away from the gym. Sick days. Holidays. Busy seasons. I’ve even missed 15+ days at a time.

And I’m here to remind you… that is OKAY.

I used to absolutely tear myself apart for missing workouts. Missing the gym felt like failure. I thought getting back into routine meant I had to “start over.”

But the truth? I wasn’t starting over… I was just continuing.
During that week off, I still nourished my body. I didn’t slash my food because I was moving less. I had takeout instead of meal prep some nights. And the world didn’t end.

7 years ago? I would’ve restricted because I wasn’t exercising normally. I would’ve sat in guilt, convinced I had “fallen off,” and that guilt would’ve turned into an all-or-nothing spiral.

Because that’s what happens when your routine is built on punishment instead of trust.

Your progress is not defined by one missed week.
Not by rest days. Not by sickness. Not by imperfect routines.

The goal isn’t to never miss a workout.
The goal is to build habits, a mindset, and a relationship with yourself that can withstand real life.

Because sustainable progress isn’t about perfection.
It’s about knowing how to keep going… even after the pauses.

Save this for a reminder and remember, rest is progress too 🩷

I spent 10 years “starting over” after moments like this one…

We’re trained to think food messes up our results and I’m here to show that it doesn’t, and the key is to just keep going.

7 years ago I would’ve gone home after having that dinner and dessert, and I would’ve felt so guilty that I continued to eat even more food. I would’ve tried fitting in as many as my favorite snacks as I could before starting over the next day, and when that next day came I would jump back to extreme restriction which only led to the same exact cycle repeating every week…

For the longest time, I thought something was wrong with me. I even spent years trying to accept myself the way I was.. overweight and struggling with my relationship with food.

Truth is, I didn’t need stricter rules. I needed to detach from the rules and stop focusing on being perfect.

I learned that the moment of enjoying food was never the problem , the decisions I made after those moments are the ones that did.

No matter how puffy, bloated, or increased the scale is after moments of enjoying fun foods, this is your reminder to push through and show up for yourself because that is where lasting results are found

Save this as a reminder next time you’re struggling with food guilt! 🤍
