A look back at the last 60 days with this spotted king!

60 days ago Ricky was unhandled and had been for the past 5 years. He only really knew grass, alfalfa cubes and hay. They bribed him with grain to get a halter on then used squeeze shoot to get him onto a trailer.

The transformation is insane! Ricky went from untrusting, snorty and unsure of everything to a rider on his back!

The physical and health things we have accomplished!
✨Dental
✨ All feet trimmed
✨Sheath cleaned
✨Full bath and hair un dreaded

Training aspect
✨leads
✨Lunges
✨Stands tied
✨Ground drives in a halter
✨Picks up all 4 feet
✨Stands for grooming and bathing
✨Packed a bit
✨Had his first ride
✨Learned the lay down trick

Every milestone hit has been sooo rewarding! In the coming months we plan to get him solid under saddle, trailer loading, practice stalling, continue groundwork and manners, work on the bit, crossties, and get him in with other horses!

We can not wait to see where he goes!

Theres still time to sign up!! Its going to be a blast! Join us for a problem solving, problem horse clinic, orrrr book ...

2027 training books are now open!

2027 sounds like it’s a long way away… but we are officially only 4 months from the new year.

If sending your horse to training has been on your 2027 plans, now is the time to get on our schedule.

At Barefoot Farms, we work with horses needing everything from:

🐴 Starting under saddle
🐴 Green horse development
🐴 Confidence building & real-world exposure
🐴 Behavioral/problem-solving work
🐴 Tune-ups & continued education
🐴 Building a safer, more confident partnership between horse and owner

I can only take so many horses at one time while still giving each horse the individual attention and consistency they deserve. Once those spots are spoken for, they’re gone.

If you already know your horse needs training in spring, summer or even later in 2027, you do NOT need to wait until then to reach out.

Get on the schedule now.

60 DAYS. 🖤⚡️

60 days ago, Ricky rolled up… and almost immediately, a storm hit and took out the power. 😂⛈️ a large storm!!

Apparently, that was a sign.

Because in true Clare fashion, I had something to prove to myself, and I decided our first ride needed to happen while another thunderstorm was rolling in. We prepared so hard that neither of us was fazed!

Guess Ricky and I are riding the lightning. ⚡️🐴

And yes ….. the picture is REAL. Not AI. Not edited. Just a horse and a human who were so well prepared that the storm and for an amazing first ride!

There’s a much longer post coming about this guy, because 60 days with him deserves more than a few paragraphs. But for now, a BIG thank you.

Thank you, Ricky, for scratching my feral horse itch. 🖤
Thank you for having an absolutely amazing brain.
Thank you for pushing me.
Thank you for teaching me to slow down when I need to, but push when the moment calls for it.
Thank you for trusting me.

Thank you to the girls at the barn who have hyped me every step of the way and to the girls who love this adventure just as much as I do. You make the hard days better and cheering sooo hard when we hit those big milestones! Thanks for holding the rope and not letting my a** meet grass.

Thank you to everyone supporting us from afar. Every message, cheer, check-in, and bit of encouragement.

And thank you to an owner who believes in my program, believes in this horse, and trusts me to help him become everything he can be. Thank for providing Ricky with everything he needs to succeed!

60 days ago, he rolled up during a storm.

60 days later, we’re apparently riding the lightning. ⚡️

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

More to come on this special guy. ❤️

Meet Draco!

Draco is a 15 year old grade QH gelding standing at 14.2hh and stocky! He is a complete, dependable trail horse who is incredibly easygoing and willing.

Draco goes through water without hesitation, over obstacles on the trails and is not spooky. He self-loads into a slant or stock trailer and will stand tied quietly whether it’s in the trailer, on cross ties, hard tied, on a picket line, or you can stall him. He is comfortable riding alone or in a group and has absolutely no issues either way, he will lead or follow.

He has a solid walk, trot, canter, with an amazing stop, and backs nicely. He has a naturally low head set with a nice little jog in the arena. He tends to be on the slower side, but will move out when asked. Draco has absolutely no buck, bite, kick, rear, or bolt.

If ridden on rocky terrain he does need front shoes, but otherwise has no soundness or health issues. He is great for the farrier and vet and is up to date on everything.

Draco is a very easy going horse who does well on hay and pasture, currently is on 24/7 turn out but will stall quietly. He would make an excellent trail horse for someone that is looking for a safe and dependable partner! Or put some time on him and get him into some ranch classes!

Stanley just wrapped up 60 days with us and hes staying in the group chat!

Stanley has successfully
✨Worn tarps
✨Carried the flag
✨Been ridden over tarps and bags
✨Learned the emergency stop
✨Trail ridden alone and in a group
✨Ridden in large groups of traffic
✨Gotten softer in the shoulder and neck

Stanley had a bolting problem and we taught him to self regulate and filled in some ground training holes. Stanley was scared of bags, tarps, flags, things touching him on the butt especially when it was things he didnt enjoy.

He know is very well rounded, is using the thinking side of his brain, and is carrying, wearing and riding over all the things he was once terrified of. He now stays in the group chat instead of leaving!

We cant wait to see what Stanley continues to learn and where he and his owner go!
