Time to build some athletic hoopers!!

Matt Erdman and I align on a lot of what goes into developing better basketball players. So we’re bringing GYMRAT Basketball and Veritas Athletic Performance together for a camp that combines skill development + basketball movement development.

Players will work on their skills while learning how to move their bodies more effectively through acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, and body control.

Understanding how to move allows players to put their skills to work in a game.

Two coaches bringing their strengths together to give local hoopers a more complete development experience.

Takeaways from Universal Speed Rating Speed Lab Summit:

INTENT

Intent drives results. No intent, no results…….but you can lie to yourself that you checked the box and did what you were supposed to do. Intent is your personal accountability partner that ensures you meet the standard you have for yourself. Don’t have a standard? Get used to falling down to what the expectations everyone else around you has. Know what drives you (purpose) and never let you standard waiver (intent)

ATHLETE FOCUSED

There is so much to get caught up in when coaching, but the bottom line always comes back to this: without athletes, there are no coaches. As a coach, you have to have the ability to get more excited for your athletes success than you do about your own. Support them, get to know them, and be the person they need when they need it.

CONNECTION

It’s hard to believe that the opportunity to learn from these coaches, and bring this information to our athletes in the region. My goal is to make sure that each year of coaching has something different to offer in order to keep from repeating the same year of coaching for eternity (“this is how we’ve always done it”). When I say I get to learn from world class coaches, there is no need for quotes, as they are literally the best in the world at what they do.

And now, we get to bring this information back to our athletes: intentionally, with their success in mind first, while creating confident humans as we increase their athletic potential. Let’s kick off year 2 and see what we can build!
