Factory farms are gross. Yea, we said it. We are all about supporting smaller, organic, regenerative type farms, and one of the main reasons is QUALITY. If you have ever had the misfortune of being downwind of a factory farm, we are sorry. Gross.
What you eat matters, what you put in your body matters, and if you think buying organic is expensive, you should see the cost of being unhealthy. It all starts with nutrition. Mic Drop.

The amazing, but controversial nutrient known as "carbs". What are they? Will smelling them make you fat? Will being in the same room with them cause you to become superman? Doubtful on both.
Carbohydrates are, despite some popular beliefs, NOT a bad thing. However like most of nutrition, they are nuanced, and some are better than others. Eating brown rice is not the same as wolfing down a rice crispy treat loaded with sugar. Sweet potatoes are not the same as a soft drink. This is a very simple breakdown of simple vs complex carbs. And the easy short version is this: don't avoid carbs, but DO avoid sugar consumption on a regular basis. A treat is totally OK! A steady diet of cookies and soft drinks probably won't get you where you want to be. If you're curious to learn more, swing on by the Coop and ask! Oh, and lift some weights while you're at it. Glutes on fire 🔥
Fuel for the machine from the great crew over - this one is super tasty and will be a hit with everyone! Give it a shot and let us know what you think down in the comments!
¾ cup mayonnaise
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon curry powder
4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1½ pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 2-inch cubes
2 teaspoons kosher salt
Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Minced fresh cilantro, optional
In a small bowl mix together mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, and curry powder until smooth.
Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is glistening, add the sweet potatoes to the pan in a single layer. Cook, undisturbed, until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Cook, stirring, another 10-12 minutes, or until fork tender. Transfer to a plate.
Meanwhile, season the steak all over with salt and pepper. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the same pan over high heat. Working in batches as needed, add the steak in a single layer, making sure they aren’t touching, and cook, undisturbed, until browned and cooked to desired doneness, about 1-2 minutes per side.
Return the sweet potatoes to the pan with the steak. Add the remaining garlic and cook, stirring, 1-2 minutes, or until garlic is fragrant.
Divide between plates, garnish with cilantro if using and serve with curry aioli on the side.
"Fat" is not the F word. Fats are needed as part of your dietary intake to regulate so many important functions in your body! However, they aren't all the same. An avocado isn't an ice cream cone...I know...sigh.

Let's talk about fats.....and how they are NOT the enemy. They are also NOT all created equal, and are completely a part of a healthy diet. Fats can support hormonal function, brain activity, and also are just plain delicious. However, as this illustrates, some are better than others. Here's the takeaway - nutrition is a highly nuanced thing, and HAS to be a part of your training regimen. So eat those avocados, smash those barbells, and we will see you for some fitness and fun!
