Pleasure to introduce you to our new teacher Toni! She is currently teaching Thursdays at 6:30PM Release & Recovery class. I am originally from Illinois, but Arizona has been my home since 2013. I have always enjoyed sports and fitness, playing multiple sports throughout school and competing in track and field in college. Post-competitive sports, I found recreational sports, weightlifting, yoga, and hiking. I completed my 200-hr YTT in 2018. I have coached CrossFit and currently coach youth softball. Yoga has helped to keep my body healthy and functional to continue doing all the activities I enjoy, and I am passionate about helping others do the same. Having spent many hours in physical therapy myself, I greatly appreciate the principles of physical therapy that PhysioYoga incorporates into the yoga practice to promote healing and recovery. I am excited to share these principles with you to help you live your healthy, pain-free lifestyle.

If you don't release a myofascial trigger point, it can lead to a number of negative consequences, including:
1. Pain: Trigger points often cause pain in the area where they are located, which can become chronic if left untreated.
2. Limited range of motion: Trigger points can cause stiffness and reduced flexibility in the affected muscle or joint, making it difficult to move freely.
3. Muscle weakness: Trigger points can cause muscle weakness in the affected area, which can lead to compensatory muscle imbalances and further pain.
4. Postural problems: Trigger points can cause postural problems, which can lead to chronic pain and even spinal misalignment.
5. Nerve compression: In some cases, trigger points can compress nerves, leading to symptoms such as tingling, numbness, and weakness.
Overall, it's important to release myofascial trigger points in order to alleviate pain and restore proper function to the affected muscle or joint. This can be done through various techniques, such as massage, foam rolling, and stretching. If you're experiencing chronic pain or limited mobility, it's important to seek the advice of a healthcare professional who can help you identify and treat any trigger points you may you. Do you get frequent headaches, neck pain, upper back pain, or shoulder pain?
If so these could be symptoms of a more complex problem. We can help you! What are the trigger points for upper cross syndrome?
In upper cross syndrome cervical flexors and rhomboid and lower trapezius become weak and pectorals and upper trapezius/elevator and sub occipital become tight. Overuse and tightness of these muscles results in trigger point (hyperirritable points/knots) formation in the belly of the muscles. Come join us for a session if you dealing with some pain and postural issues.

NEW CLASS! 💚🧡Yoga experience that supports your body feeling balanced and re-aligned. In this release and flow class, you will first be guided through what is known as the “release phase” in PhysioYoga. This is when we work to break up the knots of myofascial tissue stored in the body that can be caused by stress, postural imbalances, and the normal wear and tear of everyday life. As we release in the body, we are working to create space and to let go of what is no longer serving us as we allow the body to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
After the release phase is completed, you will be guided through a mindful yoga flow that will further enhance your state of calm and well being. We will be moving through a traditional vinyasa style class that connects movement to breath.

Are band pull-aparts effective?
The band pull aparts are extremely effective for strengthening muscles such as the rhomboids and mid to upper trapezius which are both key players in helping to keep your shoulders in a neutral, healthy position. If you're dealing with ongoing shoulder issues, join us for a PhysioYoga session, we can help! Cheers!

Myofascial release (MFR) has been a darling of the manual therapist's tool kit for some time. But it's definitely fair to say that MFR does have some detractors in the physical therapy field. Scroll to learn why we think MFR, which doesn't always get the love it deserves, is a wonderful tool for treatment of pain conditions and functional issues! Come join us for a session if you are dealing with a pain or body mechanic issues.

We are so excited to introduce you our new teacher Jordan! He will be teaching on Tuesdays 6:30PM Infrared PHYSIO YOGA! Hi, my name is Jordan. I was born in Wichita, KS and moved to Scottsdale in February of 2018. I'm always searching for ways to physically and mentally better myself, and found Yoga to be one of the best holistic practices to promote a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
I've been practicing yoga consistently for about 6 years, and found PhysioYoga about 2 years ago. I've always suffered from tight shoulders, back, hips, etc due to my active lifestyle and occupation that keeps me behind a computer for most of the day. Not only did Physio Yoga help heal and strengthen these problem areas, it's improved my posture, improved my outlook on life, and allowed me to meet some great people along the way.
I recently made a career change, so when an opportunity arose to share my knowledge of yoga with others, I was ecstatic. When I'm not teaching or working, I enjoy golfing, hiking, pickleball, finding new exercise routines, hanging out with friends, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks!

Myofascial release can help overall decrease stress on the human body movement system. It will reduce the soreness and help assist the tissues during the recovery process. Circulation to our body is extremely important and trigger points will prevent the recovery process. They will help release tension and knots. Headaches are a common factor and a simple myofascial release to the trapezius muscle allowing blood flow and recovery. Another huge benefit of myofascial release is correcting muscle imbalances. Correcting those will relieve the number one injury everyone has, low back pain!

Runners knee pain?
Most likely due to ringgit IT Band!
IT band syndrome is often caused by weak kneel hip muscles accompanied by repetitive use, such as running.
Individuals can experience symptoms at the hip and or knee. A snapping sensation at either of these locations can also be experienced.
© You might have seen information online instructing someone with this condition to foam roll/ stretch their IT band. This can help with short term symptoms however there is limited evidence to support this line of treatment for long term recovery.
For this injury we believe a strong emphasis should be placed on improving the capacity of the weak structures at play.
Often the weak structures are our hip abduction muscles, however a thorough assessment would need to be conducted to confirm this.
This post demonstrates some exercises which may be useful in mid-late stage recovery of IT band syndrome, where hip abduction weakness has been suspected as the main cause.
Tag a mate who would benefit from this post!

The teachings of PhysioYoga’s practice have made me even more passionate about strengthening this mind to body connection and sharing that knowledge with others.

Please welcome Devin to our PHYSIOYOGA SCOTTSDALE team! 💚🧡 Originally from Connecticut before moving to Arizona to attend ASU. I’ve always been very active growing up, spending most of my childhood running, swimming, or biking outdoors. Back home, I participated in cross-country and track-and-field but found a passion for competitive rowing which I partook for 4 years. Since moving to Arizona, I lost my connection to physical activity which weighed heavy for my mind & body as it had always been apart of my life.
Then during the pandemic, in 2021 I lost my grandmother to Covid. This loss left me no choice but to seek healing in order to find peace through the grief. I discovered the magic that is PhysioYoga after attending one of Geeny’s classes. After my first exposure to our community & the PhysioYoga practice I finally felt the motivation to restart my fitness journey, and more importantly my life again.
The PhysioYoga family helped me heal my mind while growing strength in my body. Since restarting my fitness journey, I’ve trained with Geeny to teach at PhysioYoga as well as working with personal trainers. I’ve now found a passion for fitness more than just an outlet and I’m happy to share this journey with everyone interested in a healthy lifestyle change.
