Rest is just as important as exercise. 😴 Your body needs time to recover and repair from the stress of workouts, which is why rest days are crucial for progress and injury prevention.

But how often do you need to rest? The answer depends on your fitness level, goals, and overall health. Generally speaking, most people should aim for at least one or two rest days per week, but it’s important to listen to your body and adjust accordingly.

Remember that rest is not a sign of weakness - it’s a sign of strength and self-care. Let’s prioritize our rest and come back stronger than ever!

Sleep is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. 🥱😴

Getting enough quality sleep is crucial for both physical and mental health. It can help with muscle recovery, reduce stress levels, and improve cognitive function.

So next time you’re tempted to sacrifice sleep for an extra hour at the gym, remember that good sleep is just as important for reaching your fitness goals.

Cardio before or after lifting weights - which is better? 🏃🏼‍♂️

Besides a low intensity 2-5min warmup, cardio should always be done after weights. It all boils down to the energy systems of the body. Cardio primarily uses the aerobic energy system requiring mostly oxygen. You can easily do cardio in a fasted state or post workout after you’ve spent all of your nutritional energy on your lifts. Lifting on the other hand uses the anaerobic energy system requiring ATP primarily which comes directly from your food. Lifting in a fasted or energy spent state is significantly handicapped reducing the amount of work the muscles can produce which burns more calories in the long run.

If your goal is to burn fat: lift before cardio.

If your goal is to build muscle: lift before cardio.

If your goal is solely to increase cardiovascular endurance: google long-distance-runner bodies, google sprinter bodies, then lift before cardio.

If your goal is to lose weight: understand that “weight” does not necessarily mean body fat, then lift before cardio.

From supersets to drop sets, mixing up your workout sets keeps your muscles guessing and your gains growing 💪

Increasing weight is not the only way to continue progressive overload. Incorporating drop sets, forced reps and partial reps can push your muscles past failure without risking your joints by taking on more weight than you can handle.

Which set type is your favorite?
