We could use your help



You may or may not be aware that the Scottsdale Martial Arts Center is launching a new monthly community service initiative called the "Situational Self Defense" program. While primarily aimed at teen and adult women, both teen and adult men are also encouraged to participate. There is no charge for this program.

These classes are scheduled to take place on the first Tuesday of each month, running from 6 to 7 PM. First class is schedule for Tuesday, March 5th.

We're hoping to enlist the assistance of our black belt women (whether you are training at this moment or not) to support these participants in learning essential self-defense techniques. Not only will it be an enjoyable experience, but it will also contribute positively to our community.

If you're able to lend a hand, we'd greatly appreciate it. Please spread the word about this program to any women or teen girls you think might benefit from it.

No gi's. Wear comfortable street cloths. If you have a SMAC shirt, wear it. If you don't, no problem. If you think you can help on a regular basis, I will get you a SMAC shirt.

Students keen on enhancing their sparring abilities are invited to attend the competition sparring class on Thursdays from 6 to 7 PM, and it's free.

In this class, students will practice partner sparring drills and participate in tournament-style sparring (kumite) matches.

The kumite matches during the class are overseen by referees and judges, and a match clock is used to keep track of time.

This class offers valuable training for students looking to improve their kumite skills, whether they plan to compete or not. It's open to individuals of all ages and ranks.
