We're very excited to be part of promoting the International Cup to be held here in Phoenix from November 3rd to November 7th, 2017. This event for Amateur Men's, Women's, Mixed or Senior Teams is in support of Rotary International with a portion of the net proceeds going to Rotary USA and Rotary Canada to support their International endeavors.

The event will be a Four Event Curling Bonspiel at Coyotes Curing Club in Tempe commencing on Friday November 3rd. This will be followed by a two day Golf Tournament at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale.

Points will be accumulated from each event to determine an overall International Cup winner, as well each 4 person team will compete for cash and prizes in Curling and Golf.

Curling will culminate in four 4 end skins games for every team for points and cash while Golf will be a modified Ryder Cup format with each curling team divided into two golf teams and compete for points and prizes.

Check out details at our website and enter early to take advantage of the Early Bird Discount.

Come on down to Scottsdale this November, take advantage of the great weather and compete in the last Golf Tournament before winter, the first Curling Bonspiel of the Season all while supporting Rotary International.

International Cup - November 3rd to 7th, 2017
Links to Rinks is coming in November to Scottsdale!

Compete in the Last Golf Tournament of the Season while also playing in the First Curling Bonspiel of the Winter, with the International Cup at stake. Entries will be divided into two overall teams, who will compete for the Cup while also competing for Individual/Team prizes.

The Bonspiel will be held at the Coyotes Curling Club in Tempe and the Golf Tournament will be at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale. We have arranged for accommodation at the Marriott Courtyard, Scottsdale at Salt River. Two Queen Beds in each room, pricing based upon Double Occupancy but the rooms can accommodate up to four people.

Curling in the Desert? I know, great, isn't it? Enjoy an 8 End curling game then step outside and sit on the patio to enjoy a cold beer and the great weather!

The Bonspiel will see each Team play two 8 end qualifying games which will divide everyone into 4 pools of eight teams. Each team will then play four 4 end Skins Games within their pool to earn points for your International Cup Team as well as cash for your curling team (based upon points earned). We will start curling Friday November 3rd at 5:00 pm and everyone will play through Sunday November 5th. We'll also have some special daily rates at nearby golf courses if you want to get in a 9 or 18 hole practice round between your draws!

Talking Stick Golf Club is a 36 Hole facility with a fantastic Driving Range/Practice Facility. The two courses, both designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, are very highly rated. The club has garnered it's fair share of accolades; Golfweek Magazine once named the North Course as the Number 1 ranking of the Top 100 modern courses. The South Course, where our event will be held, is friendlier for the average golfer. Water comes into play on four holes on the back nine, and there are roughly 4,500 trees to avoid, but it's a very playable par-71 layout that is 6,833 yards from the back tees.

Golf will kick off Monday November 6th with an 8:30 am shot gun start. Your Curling Team will be divided into two person teams and will play a Modified Ryder Cup Format against a two person team from the other International Squad. November 7th will also see an 8:30 am shot gun start, the groups will be swapped and will play an 18 hole Two Person Team Low Net Match against the other Two Man Team from the opposing International squad. Points for the match will be accrued to your International Squad and the Two Man Teams will also compete against each other for Low Net/Gross prizes.

The Courtyard by Marriott, Scottsdale Salt River has a 4.8/5.0 rating on Trip Advisor and is a great hotel about mid-point between the Golf Course and the Curling Rink.

Curling brooms are available at the Curling Club so just bring your shoes and curling attire. We also have great rental golf clubs available at a special weekly rate for those of you smart enough to leave your own clubs at home!

Watch for an entry form to be posted on our website,, or if you have questions phone Doug (888-279-9284) or by email ([email protected]). Get your team together and enter early as we are limited to the first 32 teams, Men's/Women's or Mixed Teams welcome!

It`s a great time to travel to Phoenix/Scottsdale for golf, overseeding has been completed and many courses are off cart paths only. The weather was perfect for overseeding and all of the courses we have viewed came through in great shape.

Pricing is also very good with some exceptional green fee rates at some great courses as well as accommodation specials. The weather is fantastic cooling down but with days still in the high eighties for those looking for heat!!!

At Travel Golf Center we are also continuing our Special Sale pricing online meaning you can get our Premium Rental Clubs at a discounted price.

Traveling to Las Vegas, we were just there last week and the courses are also in great shape plus the weather has been perfect for golf! We are running our Special Sale in Vegas for Premium Golf Club Rentals as well so don`t spend your money on baggage fees and have the inconvenience of traveling with your clubs for one or two days of golf. It makes no sense when we`ll deliver right to your hotel and you`ll likely save money you can use to go to a show!

Pack light with just your carry on and you`ll also save additional money plus you`ll spend less time in the airport and more time on the golf course or on the strip.

The fall is a great time to travel to either of these locations, great weather, lower costs and not as crowded!

Give us a call and we`ll help organize your golf!

Ryder Cup - Team USA 11 1/2 Team Europe 16 1/2

Results are in and it wasn`t pretty for Team USA. They performed better in the singles matches then last time at Medinah, when they entered the final day with a commanding lead, but there was to be no miraculous comeback.

Team Europe won 5 Matches and halved 3 other matches with Team USA winning the other 4 Matches, a pretty good result if you went into the final day with 9 points. Unfortunately for the American team it was Europe who went into the final day with 10 points and only needed four more to win.

It`s hard to admit but the evidence seems to indicate that absent a dominant player like Tiger, Team USA is simply not good enough at this point in time.

Let`s start with World Golf Rankings:

Number 1 Rory McIlroy
Number 2 Adam Scott
Number 3 Sergio Garcia
Number 4 Jim Furyk
Number 5 Henrik Stenson
Number 6 Justin Rose
Number 7 Bubba Watson

Four of the Top Seven players on tour were on Team Europe and number two is Australian leaving Team USA with Two Players.

Since 1985 Team Europe has won the Cup 11 times out of the 15 biannual competitions held and the last three in a row. The last Team USA victory was 2008 at Valhalla in Louisville, Kentucky and the last time Team USA won on European soil was 1993 at The Belfry in England.

A pretty dominant performance over the past 20 years by the European Team and a reflection of how much the professional game has improved on the continent. Also very frustrating for Team USA as revealed by Phil Mickelson`s comments when he threw Tom Watson under the bus. Perhaps he has a point and a different way to coach might help but at the end of the day the coach doesn`t hit the golf ball.

If there`s hope on the horizon it`s the fact out of the next top 22 players 15 are Americans, plus our rookies performed very well in Scotland. We still boast the best golf training schools and coaches in the World, unfortunately the game is not being played by as many youngsters so maybe that`s where the focus needs to start.

We`ll come back in time, I`m just not too sure it`ll be in 2016 when we host the event at Hazeltine National Golf Course in Chaska, Minnesota, but here`s hoping!

Well here goes, for those of you night owls following the Ryder Cup here`s our fearless predictions. We`ve actually had a pretty good record for morning matches, being right on the money. It`s the afternoon where we`ve fallen apart, much like Team USA.

At any rate the 12 singles matches have been posted and we`ll either have an exciting day of golf or it`ll be over early.

Team Europe has an overwhelming lead, 10 - 6, going into the final day with 12 singles matches determining the outcome. Europe only needs 4 wins to retain the Ryder Cup, I think I hear singing in the background or at least bagpipes warming up!

We`ve been here before and only twice has a team overcome this type of deficit to win the cup, 1999 in Brookline and of course 2012 in Medinah. It`s the Brookline result that favored Team USA but it`s actually 2012`s result that is freshest and should provide enough incentive to get the job done. If Team Europe can do it at an American course then it`s only right that Team USA should get it done on the road. In fact you could say the script has worked out perfectly to allow the ultimate opportunity for revenge, an overwhelming win would have been satisfying but not nearly as satisfying as a record tying come from behind victory that would pass back to the Europeans the ``choke`` tag Team USA has had to carry for two years.

Captain Watson has decided to put the youngsters out first and hope they`ll kick it off in the right direction with the veteran`s sprinkled in to keep the momentum flowing.

Singles Matches:

Mcdowell vs. Spieth - Mcdowell has a great Ryder Cup record but Spieth has been impressive and youth will prevail.

Stenson vs. Reed - Reed has also been very impressive but Stenson has been having a great year and will move Team Europe 1 point closer.

McIroy vs. Fowler - Hard to bet against McIroy and Ricky has plenty of respect for Rory`s abilities but Mr. Fowler`s great attitude will keep it close and get the 1/2 point needed, A/S match.

Rose vs. Mahan - Team Europe closes to within 1 1/2 points as Rose prevails over a game Mahan.

Gallacher vs. Mickelson - Phil`s record has not improved here in Scotland but he`s going to pull out this victory and a much needed point for his team.

Kaymer vs. Watson - Kaymer has been playing great while Bubba is an emotional player, fortunately he`ll ride the emotions from Phil`s victory and pull it out.

Bjorn vs. Kuchar - This European may be a Ryder Cup rookie but is no stranger to playing well under pressure, he`ll put Matt away.

Garcia vs. Furyk - Much like Bubba, Segio rides emotions while Furyk stays with his game plan. I expect the game plan to win this match and Jim will finally close out a match.

Poulter vs. Simpson - Poulter`s a scary good Ryder Cup player but perhaps we`ve seen a crack this week, Simpson takes advantage to get him down early and keep his mind out of sync to win the match.

Donaldson vs. Bradley - Bradley`s a cool customer and he`ll need to be if the day unfolds as projected. Keegan will ride the high of Phil`s victory to find his own against a very good Luke Donaldson.

Westwood vs. Walker - Youth again? That`s the only chance so why not give it to Walker in a tight match.

Dubuisson vs. Johnson - We`re down to the last match and again it`s rookie against veteran except the veteran is Johnson. Who else would you want over that last putt for the cup?

Final Day Matches Team USA 8 1/2 Team Europe 3 1/2

Final Total Team USA 14 1/2 Team Europe 13 1/2

Perhaps a bit of wishful thinking but heck why not? Don`t bet your house on it but history shows it can happen, and what great television!
