Vista del Camino Park, 1996 📸

Almost 30 years later, this playground is ready for its next chapter! 👀

This fiscal year, the southern playground at Vista del Camino Park will receive a major makeover with new play structures, full poured-in-place surfacing and, for the first time, shade structures over the play space.

Funded through the Parks and Preserve Sales Tax, this project is another investment in Scottsdale’s Indian Bend Wash 🌳

Two big honors. One unforgettable night. 🏆

Last night at the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association Annual Awards Banquet, Scottsdale Parks & Recreation was honored with Park Professional of the Year for Deputy Director Chris Walsh and Outstanding Facility for the Roundhouse at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.

These awards are a reflection of the people who make great parks and recreation happen every day. We’re incredibly proud of Chris and the entire Roundhouse project team! ❤️

Thank you, APRA, for recognizing the work happening in Scottsdale! 🙌🏼

🎉 LET’S GET THIS PLAYGROUND JUMPING! 🎉

The new Rotary Park Playground is officially OPEN! 🛝🌳

One of our first major projects funded by Scottsdale’s Parks and Preserve Sales Tax is now complete - bringing a whole new play experience to Scottsdale.

The new playground features:
☀️ Shade canopies throughout the play area
🛝 Big slides & climbing features
♿ Fully accessible poured-in-place surfacing & inclusive play features
🏃 Swings, climbers and plenty of ways to play
🌳 And a little extra love for a big existing tree - with the new shade structures and surfacing carefully designed around it

From the old playground to the new, this is what investing in our parks looks like. And yes… we think it’s worth jumping around about 😎

A little piece of the Old West, Scottsdale style 🤠

These photos from 1978 show the original Western Town playground at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park - back when the Wild West town was brand new and built along the tracks of the Paradise & Pacific Railroad.

The winning design, created by ASU architectural students, featured eight cedar and wormwood storefronts. A decade later, the town got a makeover, taking on the pueblo-revival look we know today.

The buildings may have changed, but one thing hasn’t: Western Town is still a fan favorite after nearly 50 years! 🚂🤠

Whether you’re swimming at our pool or splashing in your backyard, every pool needs a lifeguard - sometimes that lifeguard is you. Set the rules, enforce them, and keep your home pool just as safe as the ones watched by our team.
