Throwback Friday - *Best Impact Drill Ever!
One of the best golf drills that you can do to improve your impact position is to simply use a 2x4 and make small swings. To setup your station place the 2x4 just outside your back foot and approximately 2 feet behind the golf ball.
The 2 keys that you are looking for are:
#1: Make both arms extend at the same time later on your downswing so that the end of the divot is approximately 4 inches past the ball.
#2: In order to create a divot after the ball your clubs angle of attack has to clear the 2x4 not only on your backswing, but on your downswing. If your arms extend too soon or your weight stays on your back foot you will hit the wood.
Try it out and leave comments if you have any questions regarding this drill.

Swing Sequence #7: Stick the Finish
One of the keys to playing good golf is to remain balanced throughout your swing. Remember, the golf swing just doesn't stop once you've hit the ball.
#1: At the end of your golf swing your trailing foot should be up on its toe. At the same time your weight should finish planted on the lead foots heel. As a checkpoint, see if your big toe is off the ground.
Lastly, a good rule of thumb is to hold your balance until the ball hits the ground or at least 5 seconds.

Swing Sequence #6: Impact and the Moment of Truth
There are many ways to swing the golf club but there is only one efficient way to impact the ball. Look for these 3 key positions that every golfer should have:
#1: Drive your lead hip towards your lead heel. That will ensure that you don't "early extend" and your lower body doesn't get in the way of where your hands are at impact.
#2: Hips have rotated approximately 40 degrees from your target line.
#3: Shoulders have rotated approximately 10 degrees from your target line.

Swing Sequence Downswing: Attacking the ball and staying on plane is key to consistency. Stick to these 3 points on your downswing to maximize your efficiency.
#1: Drop the club underneath your backswing shaft plane.
#2: As your hands reach your trailing hip the shaft should be on the same plane as your trailing forearm.
#3: Driving your weight to your front foot gives you the best opportunity to take a divot in front of the golf ball. Don’t be flat footed, your back heel should be rising off the ground slightly.
