Although a weight training workout doesn't typically burn as many calories as a cardio workout it is more effective than cardio at building muscle, and muscle burns more calories at rest, including fat.
Because of this, it is commonly said that building muscle is the key to increasing your resting metabolism — that is, how many calories you burn at rest.
Any workout heavy in cardio, regardless of intensity, will not burn as many calories post workout as a workout using weight training.

CSS offers 2 different levels of weight training classes, all taught by our certified trainers. 50/50 is 50% cardio & 50% weight training and the zero which is 100% weight training.

During a cardio workout you burn more calories than a weight training workout. However, your metabolism (calorie afterburn) stays elevated longer after weights than cardio.
