Over the past year, we’ve incorporated chain-resisted sprints as one of our primary methods for acceleration development.
Previously, we used sleds more often. Both tools can be effective, but we’ve found chains provide a smoother resistance profile while allowing athletes to maintain the sprint positions we’re looking for.
The goal is:
- Projection
- Proper acceleration angles (positive shin angles)
- Applying force back into the ground
Don’t have chains? Don’t have a sled? Find a hill and sprint up it.
The equipment may change, but the adaptation we’re chasing stays the same.
