Liberty Rugby Club (LRC) is a youth rugby club made up of young ladies and gentlemen grades 1-12. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.
The Liberty Rugby Club (LRC) is made up of players under 19 years of age from the greater Renton area of Washington. LRFC draws together a unique mix of players that crosses social, racial and economic boundaries. LRC travels each season to participate in tournaments in Oregon & California, and have represented their Country while playing in Canadian tournaments and hosting teams from England and
New Zealand as recent as 2007 and 2008. As is tradition in Rugby, the boys are "billeted", or lodged, by their host team while on tour. This is a unique tradition that gives young men the opportunity to see how a family, often very different than their own, live in another country. LRFC had the opportunity to honor this tradition by opening their homes in 2008 to 25 members of the Otorahunga, New Zealand Under 19 team. The Liberty Rugby Club is not associated with any public school and is entirely self supporting. Without private sponsorship, direct donations and volunteers, many of these boys could not afford to play rugby, let-alone be involved in organized sports. Increasingly boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship outside organized activities. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. LRFC offers that and more. LRFC promotes and enhances the development of boys by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, and belonging.
